APACHE AVIATION
Apache Aviation was started in 1994 by Mike and Janice Clewes, after returning from 6 years living and
working in the USA. On getting back into the UK Radio Control Model Aircraft scene, Mike realised that there were a number of specialist American kit manufacturers that were not represented in the UK. So,
Apache Aviation was set up to import and sell the products of Ikon Northwest (large scale classic era models), Ohio R/C Models (28% scale aerobatic models), Norcal Aero (models for the club flyer) and a unique
Northrop Gamma Racer kit. Following increasing difficulties in working with suppliers 7 hours and 7,000 miles away, together with the rise of ARTF models, it was decided to concentrate on in house design and
manufacture. A range of all wood 1/5 scale Chipmunk kits was introduced in 1997, followed by a 1/6 scale Fairchild PT-19 kit and a 1/5 scale Monocoupe 90A kit. All design and CNC routing is done in house
to ensure quality control and optimisation. A series of Engine Vibration Eliminator mounts and Electronic Ignition Systems have expanded the areas of business. We have considerable experience in converting
petrol engines for model aircraft use and retrofitting ignition systems to replace faulty original equipment.
