Typical applications during an engine bench test run:

Real time engine speed readout during extended test runs

Engine speed measurement on applications where a hand held optical tachometer cannot be used
 

The RCEXL Inline Mini Tachometer connects between the ignition system and the hall sensor via a ‘Y’ cable (which is included with the Minitach) and has a four digit LED display, powered by the ignition system. It measures engine speeds in the range of 10 to 30,000 rpm in 10 rpm increments. It is intended to be used for static testing and not left in circuit during flight operation.
