The Apache Aviation Fairchild PT-19 Kit
The Fairchild PT-19 Cornell was developed in 1939 as a replacement for the Stearman PT-13. The aim was
to produce an aircraft that would familiarise pilots with the flight characteristics that were more relevant to the next stage of their training instead of the very forgiving and too easily mastered biplanes of that
era. The airframe consisted of a two spar wooden structure wing with plywood skins. The ailerons were fabric covered light alloy frames. The fuselage was mainly fabric covered welded steel tube and
the tail was all wood with fabric covered control surfaces.
The Apache Aviation 1/6 scale model deviates from the full size by using a modified wing and fully sheeted
front fuselage section. The fuselage has also been flattened slightly to facilitate easier construction, whilst retaining the distinctive look of the original PT-19.
All shaped parts are CNC Precision Router Cut and feature extensive tab and slot interlocking construction
to ensure correct alignment and minimise building time. Each rib and former has its part number engraved on it to simplify identification. This has created a quick to build, geometrically correct airframe
that can be tackled with confidence by novice R/C modellers. All other parts have been precut and packed in bags according to their function.
This is a very complete package with everything you need to build the airframe included in the kit. The
only additional items required are glue, covering material, engine and radio gear. We have even included a set of our unique .61-.90 cu in Engine Vibration Eliminators to ensure you get the very best
performance from your Apache Aviation model aircraft.
The sparweb based wing construction and rib spacer tabs build in the correct degree of washout on any flat
building board. This creates a wing that is stable at low speeds and does not tip stall on landing approach. The tab and slot located Radio Tray and Formers make sure the fuselage is self aligning and
straight. Even the elevator and rudder control rod location holes are pre-machined in the formers. This is an easy kit to build, but looks and performs like a true scale model.
