About this deal

Takamaka has two main core ranges, the Seychelles Series is made up of five molasses-based rums: Rum Blanc , Dark Spiced , Zannannan (Pineapple), Koko (Coconut), and Overproof , as well as the St Andre Series, which comprises of Extra Noir , Zepis Kreol , Pti Lakaz, and Grankaz a more complex affair consisting of cane and molasses rums made on pot and column stills, as well as its pressed rums, and some of those Bajan rums blended in for good measure. A Takamaka rumok a csodás Seychelle-szigetekről származnak, alapjául a szigetek kristálytiszta vizét használják.

We started blending for a variety of reasons. The most important was we love what the cane produces, especially in new French oak, but in the same way we loved what imported Barbados rum (Foursquare) and our own molasses rum brought to the table. We approached it in a similar way to blended scotch whisky in essence looking to highlight what we love about each rum. Important was also – as a small distillery that is still developing (only 20 years old) – by approaching the blending In this manner we are more than the sum of all parts – allowed us to release what we believe are some really exciting rums “ Nem a Takamaka volt az első rum a Seychelle-szigeteken: a brit haditengerészetnek köszönhetően a fűszeresen és édesen örvénylő prémium ital már a 16. században felbukkant ezen a vidéken. A 18. század végén és a 19. század elején virágzott itt a cukornádtermesztés, mert ekkoriban a Seychelle-en termő cukornád szolgált a ritkán idelátogató hajók ellátmányának kiegészítéseként. Később még nagyobb lendületet kapott az iparág: megélénkült a cukor iránti érdeklődés, a cukornád felhasználása fejlődésnek indult, és kialakult a Takamaka előtti legismertebb rumféleség, a Baka néven ismert erjesztett cukornádlé. The Seychelles, that paradisiacal archipelago located in the Indian Ocean, is not only renowned for its dreamy beaches but also for a local specialty that its inhabitants take pride in: rum. Are you familiar with Seychellois rum? This delicious and authentic spirit deserves to be discovered by all enthusiasts of fine beverages. In this article, we will explore the various facets of this unique production.

Seychellois Rum: An Emblematic Beverage to Savor

Residents also have a history of making their own rhum arrangé, a mixture of local rum and a blend of herbs and spices (usually a family recipe). This is traditionally served as a digestif (post-meal drink). [ citation needed] So what is Hydrodynamic Cavitation? In short, it’s a mechanical process that brings about chemical reactions and molecular changes in liquid that would otherwise happen over time. These include the development of deep, natural flavors as well as mellowing of the rum.

Zepis Kreol : Worth trying just because I can’t think of another rum like it. To create ZK, a blend of pot and column still molasses was pre-soaked with ex-Merlot French oak wood fines, then macerated with locally grown natural spices before being pressed. This is your cavitation creation, right here. That liquid is then blended with eight-year-old Bajan Foursquare rum, before spending 60 days in very old ex-bourbon casks. Zepis Kreol is a singular creation somewhere between spiced, flavoured, and botanical rum with an array of beautiful flavours like aromatic baking spice, red berry sweetness, papaya, and caramel. ( May 2017) ( Learn how and when to remove this template message) Situated on Mahé Island, the Takamaka Distillery provides visitors with a unique and immersive experience into the rum-making process. The guided tour allows you to discover the various production stages, from sugarcane harvesting to bottling. At the end of the tour, a tasting of the distillery's flagship products is offered, much to the delight of enthusiasts. Takamaka Rums: A Diverse RangeSugarcane is primarily cultivated on the island of Mahé, where most of the distilleries are concentrated. This tropical plant thrives in the warm and humid climate of the archipelago, as well as in nutrient-rich soils. Local farmers practice sustainable agriculture, preserving the island's biodiversity and natural resources. Moreover, Seychellois sugarcane is grown without the use of herbicides or chemical pesticides. Artisanal Production Methods Ever since the first spirit was put into a barrel, people have been experimenting with different ways of adding flavour to it. After almost 20 years of making rum we began exploring new ways to impact flavour in our rum and were inspired by innovative technologies we were hearing about in the Californian and Australian wine industries. This led us to start experimenting with what we like to call ‘Pressed Rum’.
