Call your doctor straight away or go straight to the Emergency Department at your nearest hospital if you notice any of the following side effects; asthma, wheezing or shortness of breath, swelling of the face, lips or tongue which may cause difficulty in swallowing or breathing, hives, itching or skin rash, fainting. These may be the sign of an allergic reaction. Respiratory. Bronchospasm may be precipitated in patients suffering from, or with a history of bronchial asthma or allergic disease. Use of opioids in chronic (long-term) non-cancer pain (CNCP). Opioid analgesics have an established role in the treatment of acute pain, cancer pain and palliative and end-of-life care. Current evidence does not generally support opioid analgesics in improving pain and function for most patients with chronic non-cancer pain. The development of tolerance and physical dependence and risks of adverse effects, including hazardous and harmful use, increase with the length of time a patient takes an opioid. The use of opioids for long-term treatment of CNCP is not recommended. If you have pain all the time, your doctor may recommend slow-release ibuprofen tablets or capsules. You'll usually take these once a day in the evening or twice a day. Leave a gap of 10 to 12 hours between doses if you're taking ibuprofen twice a day. How to take tablets, capsules, granules and liquid

Never use ibuprofen gel, mousse or spray on your eyes, mouth, lips, nose or genital area. It may make them sore. Do not put it on sore or broken skin. Concomitant treatment with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or within 14 days of stopping treatment. If you often forget doses, it may help to set an alarm to remind you. You could also ask your pharmacist for advice on other ways to help you remember to take your medicine. If you take too much ibuprofen tablets, capsules, granules or liquid For the temporary relief of acute moderate pain and inflammation in patients over the age of 12 years. 4.2 Dose and Method of Administration The risk of life-threatening respiratory depression is also higher in elderly, frail, or debilitated patients, in patients with renal and hepatic impairment and in patients with existing impairment of respiratory function (e.g. chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; asthma). Opioids should be used with caution and with close monitoring in these patients (see Section 4.2 Dose and Method of Administration). The use of opioids is contraindicated in patients with severe respiratory disease, acute respiratory disease and respiratory depression (see Section 4.3 Contraindications).There is some evidence that drugs which inhibit cyclo-oxygenase/ prostaglandin synthesis may cause impairment of female fertility by an effect on ovulation. Product details Owing to the varied response to opioids between individuals, it is recommended that all patients be started at the lowest appropriate dose and titrated to achieve an adequate level of analgesia and functional improvement with minimum adverse reactions. Depending on your body's individual ability to break down codeine, you may be getting reduced benefit or experience signs of overdose even when you take Nurofen Plus as recommended by your doctor. If overdose symptoms occur, seek immediate medical advice. If you use too much Nurofen Plus

Tolerance to Nurofen Plus may develop, which means that the effect of the medicine may decrease. If this happens, more may be needed to maintain the same effect. 3. What if I am taking other medicines? Do not use if you have ever had an allergic reaction to Nurofen Plus or any of the ingredients listed at the end of the CMI.Putting too much ibuprofen on your skin is unlikely to cause problems. There may be an increased risk of side effects on the kidneys if ibuprofen is taken in combination with any of the following medicines:

When GI bleeding or ulceration occurs in patients receiving Nurofen Plus, the treatment should be withdrawn. If you are about to be started on any new medicine tell your doctor and pharmacist that you are taking Nurofen Plus.If you need to take ibuprofen for more than 6 months, your doctor may prescribe a medicine to protect your stomach from any side effects. If you forget to take ibuprofen tablets, capsules, granules or liquid Some medicines may interfere with Nurofen Plus and affect how it works. A list of these medicines is in Section 3.
