About this deal

It's a sad piece of art, really, but doesn't have the "story arc" of Ode to Happiness, which I found had more depth and more stimulating.

The project is particularly timely as the issues of the Cold War have evolved but continue to play out on the international stage. The written words are a mixture of longing "And I knew I was done and you were gone forever", a description of the subject matter shadow "My shadow is innocent I am guilty", negativity "No matter how you fight it you lose it" and sometimes a glimmer of hope "It is a dance of light of dark". As the official publication of The Bob Dylan Center, BOB DYLAN: MIXING UP THE MEDICINE is the first wide-angle look at the Dylan archive, a book that promises to be of vast interest to both the Nobel Laureate’s many musical fans and to a broader national and international audience as well.

Throughout the years the city and the surrounding territories have experienced their share of socio-economic struggles and topographic transformations that have altered its identity. Monterey-based photographer Debra Achen was born and raised near Pittsburgh, PA, where she developed a passion for both nature and art. Is it light tracing an object or the shape a body throws when it comes between a light source and a surface? Reeves' words would be revealing, if you were unaware of who wrote them - he is a famously guarded person. Is it a metaphor for the intimate, darker side of a person’s nature-as Carl Jung postulated-and the unconscious side of one’s self, where daemons and secrets are kept hidden or repressed?

BOB DYLAN: MIXING UP THE MEDICINE is an unprecedented glimpse into the creative life of one of America’s most groundbreaking, influential and enduring artists. The different colour images are shadows of silhouettes of Keanu Reeves each in a pale colour contrasted on a darker background. After experiencing the collection firsthand in Tulsa, each of the authors was asked to select a single item that beguiled or inspired them. The project consists of vernacular photographs, new captures and ephemera to tell a story and investigate a childhood mystery. However, that said, this has clever and intriguing photos of Keanu rather that water colour doodles, and it is more personal, intimate, in feeling. For more than 25 years, French photographer Patrick Cariou has traveled to places around the globe, documenting people living on the fringes of society.

Harris, and Paul Martineau plumb Tress’s work and archives, studying ephemera, personal correspondence, unpublished notes, diaries, contact sheets, and more to uncover how he went from earning his living as a social documentarian in Appalachia to producing surreal work of “imaginative fiction. So one day many years from now when your grandchildren ask you what you did during the 2020 pandemic, you can say that you bought Keanu Reeves's Ode To Happiness and saved your soul. Alexandra Grant is a Los Angeles-based visual artist who explores language, literature and reading through painting, drawing, sculpture, video and other media. Reeves's texts, written in tandem with the creation of the images, give voice to the multiple manifestations of the shadow: as a projected figure, a place of concealed emotion and an invocation to shadow play.Because the other pages are for Keanu's handwritten aphorisms; My shadow is innocent, I am guilty, I first saw it in my youth, the beginning of the end. Eye mama was created by BAFTA-nominated filmmaker and photographer Karni Arieli during the pandemic, when everyone around the world was in lockdown and spending more time in the home, often consumed by caregiving. I'd be interested to know how the book was compiled; whether photos were chosen then comments added like an ink blot reaction, or the photos were interpretive. Some images are still, others are in motion, some are clear, some are blurred, some are distorted and others proportioned of the human form.
