Was not sure how this story was going to go on and what would happen but it kept me reading until I finished the book sooner than expected. After her scans show that Emma is in remission, Leo’s boss asks him to finish the obituary for their files in the event it should be necessary in the future. I loved the dual pov/timeline format, the intriguing history of our FMC, and the overall character development. As we uncovered Emma’s secret, the layers were so well executed and developed that every curve ball and reveal kept me guessing.As readers get to know them both, it seems unbelievable that lovable Emma could be deceiving Leo…but how else to explain the secrets he’s uncovering? Emma not only has a bit of “new mom” syndrome (despite Ruby not being an infant) where she checks on her constantly, but she also has some hoarding tendencies (unfortunately for me, not a big part of the plot because I love a good hoarder), some fairly severe bouts with depression and also has had cancer and is waiting blood tests to see if it is back or if she is in remission.

This is one of those books where I thought I could see from the beginning where things were headed (and not the obvious direction Walsh tries to steer the reader toward), so I thought I was really smart . I listened to it as an audiobook and the dual narrators did a fantastic job keeping the story moving forward. I’m writing a story about a married couple whose lives are torn apart when one of them discovers that the other has been lying for twenty years. I think he's insecure as a result of his past and has trouble accepting that people love him enough to not leave him.stars--There's nothing wrong with this book, but I guess I was expecting more of an emotional punch after Ghosted. I liked how the title could range from something romantic to something creepy, depending on how you read it. The way the story is written captures the characters with love, laughter and heartbreak for those we protect. She knew he most likely wasn’t dead – his messages were all delivered – but she still wonders if something terrible happened! The old life Emma tried so carefully to hide threatens to destroy the new life she’s built with Leo.
