About this deal

A revised edition of this classic compendium of readings and prayers for every day of the year, with Celtic themes and inspiration. There is also clear guidance on how and when to use the material in imaginative ways, and on the benefits of utilising the imagery and themes of Celtic Christianity.

A friend of mine suggested that I get this book to help with my daily quiet time, because I was struggling to find something to hang my routine on without becoming stale. Some find that the mornings tend to be too rushed for lengthy silences and that this can best wait till evening prayer. Having purchased the previous physical copies of Celtic Daily Prayer and used them now a good few years I was very glad to be able to get this on Kindle. In the meantime, I'm tempted to take them out and laminate them for daily use, saving the rest of the book for their fascinating, inspiring readings. We load an article each month entitled Daily Readings during…… which provides information on the selected readings for the current month. Therefore I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities for the sake of Christ; for whenever I am weak, then I am strong. The Northumbria Community is well-respected across the Christian Church for its solid base and adventurous exploration of Celtic themes in personal prayer and corporate worship. We are currently offering the option to purchase our Daily Office Cards, and the sheet music for May the Peace of the Lord Christ go with you, as PDF downloads.

As well as the Daily Office, there are four original Communion services, along with liturgies and prayers that have emerged out of real-life experiences of seeking God in many differing contexts throughout the world.Non-personalized content and ads are influenced by things like the content you’re currently viewing and your location (ad serving is based on general location). I am tempted to dissect a copy and scan it into several PDF files to make it more manageable for daily travel ~ (maybe on a monthly or seasonal basis) - Unfortunately it is not offered in any e-formats of PDF or Kindle versions to my knowlege. If you are simply reading aloud from the books in a public context, such as a Church service, then no permission is needed unless a recording is being taken that will be broadcast or sold.

I normally use the Benedictine Daily Prayer [breviary] which holds a special place in my heart but the Celtic Daily prayer is a lovely change and not so very far removed. the Kindle Celtic Daily Prayer has been great as we have shared it so we can all see the same morning prayer page.

Some find it helpful to make a point of saying it whilst moving around (whilst preparing lunch for instance) as a reminder to pray as we work and work as we pray. However, if you wish to make any adaptations to the wording of our Daily Office, to the arrangement of the stanzas, or if you intend to insert any additional material within our Daily Office, please contact us to discuss your proposal further and seek permission for the adaptation. Building on the foundations set down in the first volume, this new collection blends the voices of the early Celtic and desert saints with more contemporary sources in ways that continue to speak to us in our own generation and culture.
