About this deal

If you are a mom and you have newborns, you shouldn’t read the book, it would definitely make motherhood much harder, extra stressful . I am fine now, but I still remember with uneasy clarity the horrible postpartum anxiety I experienced, the worries and fear that I would fail miserably as a mother and that I was doing everything wrong. Particularly during the last third I skimmed through a lot of text, eager to know what it was all about and get a solution. I got little darling as a birthday present a few years ago, and I remember reading it, and thinking how great it was. Even though the two girls are miles apart they are both truly little darlings, with Sunset and her bashful, shy, sweet self, and Destiny with her lovely voice, great comebacks, and bright, sunny self.

I never stopped wanting to know whether the mysterious woman was real and what would happen to Lauren’s babies. It was interesting to see how much of a difference there is between a rich child and a poorer child. As it didn't come out until I was in secondary school, it didn't own the same meaning to me as ones such as Double Act or Tracy Beaker would.I also loved how every chapter the main character changed and you could see what they were feeling and dealing with. If you’ve ever read Grimm’s Fairy Tales, you know that the original stories are extremely dark and bear little resemblance to their popular revisions. She's overwhelmed, experiencing postpartum depression and if that wasn't enough, one of the nights while she's still at the hospital, a young woman with twins wants to exchange/take her babies. When the two girls meet in unlikely circumstances, they find in each other something they've been missing all their lives.

The experience is much more traumatizing than she had been led to believe, and she’s beyond exhausted before she even meets them. I felt myself shift from believing her, to feeling that she was in the midst of a breakdown, back to believing that what she was going through was real. I really enjoyed the family relationships between Destiny and her mum, Sunset and her siblings, and the school drama for Destiny and the talent show.Debs, the producer arrives the next day to see if Sweetie can sing, but as she's about to she loses her first tooth and starts crying. Little darlings is definitely one of my favourite books the only thing I would change about it was the way it went like it was all about destiny in the first chapter and all about sunset in the second and then all about destiny in the third chapter and about sunset in the fourth it kinda confused me at the start but now it's definitely one of my favourites! Best of all, it features allusions to the changeling myth, the idea that fairies could steal a baby away, leaving behind an altered or possibly evil simulacrum in its place.
