Many people assume that as an award-winning interior design blogger, I am also a qualified interior designer. I mean, it’s a pretty easy assumption to make when someone spends their life writing about interiors and sharing tips and advice.

Interior Design Handbook: Furnish, Decorate, and Style The Interior Design Handbook: Furnish, Decorate, and Style

Beautifully illustrated with handy line drawings ... The Interior Design Handbook gets down to the nitty gritty of successfully putting a room together' Fabric Magazine Like this post? Then why not read my chat with Danish designer, stylist and TV personality, Katrine Martensen-Larsen, about her book, ‘Nordic Moods’. Basically a textbook on interior design for the absolute beginner. It delivers clear guidance on a lot of the questions that friends and I had on furnishing our first post b-school apartments. Things like, how big should the rug be relative to the table? To the room? How many inches of space should there be between the dining room table and the wall for people to move around? Etc. I remember googling those types of things a lot and it would have been nice to have them in a book. Nella prima parte si introducono diversi concetti di architettura come la sezione aurea, la regola dei terzi, il punto di ancoraggio, il punto focale, la simmetria, l’isovist, l’asse visivo.

Do you think the house you grew up in influenced your own sense of style and the interiors you now love? Whether it’s your home, wardrobe or free time, let me bring some Nordic inspiration to your everyday. I recently chatted with her about the book, her own interior design journey and the importance of a happy home for a healthy life. What was the inspiration behind your book, ‘The Interior Design Handbook’? What do you hope readers around the world will love and learn from it? I was so thrilled to get this as I'm moving house soon from years of rentals into one I own so can fully decorate.

I want to change that, and it is why I’ve written The Interior Design Handbook. It’s a comprehensive guide to the basic principles, explaining the rules of thumb and recommended measurements designers and stylists use in their everyday work. I write regularly for leading UK publications including Simply Scandi , 91 Magazine and Ethos magazine, and work with brands and businesses across the UK, as well as the Nordic region, to create engaging editorial features, compelling content and meaningful marketing campaigns. However, after reading the book, I'm not sure I came away with any valuable tips I could apply. They were either simple common sense or contradictory. bene posizionare il letto in modo da lasciare uno spazio libero di almeno 70 centimetri (la distanza dalla parete più vicina) su uno dei lati lunghi di un letto singolo e su entrambi i lati lunghi di un letto matrimoniale. Alongside this, on the Nordic Notes blog, I regularly share my love for the people and places, design and ideas, lifestyle and culture that makes these five distinctive countries so unique.

Frida Ramstedt and her interior design blog, Tendenser, has been a favourite read of mine for years, so when I heard she was writing her first book, ‘The Interior Design Handbook’, I couldn’t wait for it to be published here in the UK.

The Interior Design Handbook: Furnish, Decorate, and Style

What looks good and what feels good is not always the same, but today we have become so focused on how interiors look, that we have grown blind to if they work. Evitate di posizionare la lavastoviglie in un punto dove si passa spesso, perché uno sportello aperto mentre la si carica o si tolgono le stoviglie potrebbe trasformarsi in un pericolo e far inciampare. This book is amazing!!! Literally everything you need to know about designing a space Yasmin Fatollahy, @homeatheathfieldThe book is split into three parts: Country, London, and studio. Hall takes us to his creative whimsical world of colours, flowers, vintage photography, passions, and a whole host more. The Interior Design Handbook by Frida Ramstedt is one of the most useful interior design books I have ever had the pleasure to read. Full of practical and useful advice, this book is designed to help you create a home that not only looks good but feels good too. The move from her character-filled apartment to a sterile white box new build gave her the inspiration to put together this complete interiors bible to help novices to create a cosy, attractive and harmonious home that doesn’t rely on architectural features. As an influencer you have to accept the fact that you work in a constantly changing industry. There is no risk of getting bored, but you can never really rest. You are never better than your latest post, which can be challenging at times, but overall, suits my curious mind perfectly. For quite a few of the concepts discussed, certain approaches intuitively feel better aesthetically but it’s nice to have a more rational and concrete explanation to why that might be the case. It gives a better understanding of why one might have a certain gut reaction to one room vs another. Professional designers and architects, of course, have their practical manuals that contain guidelines and ergonomic measures as to how a house should be constructed, but I’ve never found anything aimed at individuals. What was needed is a book we can hold in our hands as we set about turning houses into homes, a book that will help us come up with our own solutions instead of simply encouraging us to follow other people’s. Frida has created this BIBLE to interior design ... such useful info that has taken me years to learn, all in one place' Rebecca Wakefield, Studio Fortnum
