There are many historical places to see along the way, including Maidencombe Manor, first documented in the Domesday Book of 1086 with its origins in the Saxon settlement of Devon from the eighth century onwards, and Churston Manor, a spectacular 17th-century manor house set in two acres of stunning countryside. The trail starts in Combe Martin and heads up onto the coastal path before descending towards Morte Point, where you can take in the spectacular views of the sweeping coastline.

The bay itself is home to a variety of sea life – including crabs, lobsters, oysters, and even dolphins – making it the perfect place for a relaxing coastal stroll or an exciting wildlife adventure. This 4-mile circular walk from Brixham to Berry Head includes a replica of Sir Francis Drake’s Golden Hind, an section of the South West Coast Path and an old fort and gun battery. Along the way, you’ll pass by quaint villages and farms, giving you a glimpse into the area’s history.
