About this deal

Today, I’m going to start in on the second Age of Apocalypse themed wave and I was going to double up, but I was so pressed for time that I wound up going solo with Magneto. It goes without saying, that I was a huge fan of the first Age of Apocalypse wave, and I was surprised to see Hasbro serve up a second so quickly. They seem sturdy enough to me that I’m not especially worried about that happening unless excessive force is used. Both the Colossus and Juggernaut figures come with 2 alternate hands, allowing fans to create dynamic poses and imagine the Super Heroes battling one another or teaming up to defeat a common enemy. A few paint splatters aside, this is a really solid release that gets me the Colossus I have always wanted, and a Juggernaut that is a serious improvement over the prior release.

Overall: although I might have initially preferred a different character for the Wave 2 Marvel Legends Age of Apocalypse Build-A-Figure, ML AOA Colossus ends up being rather amazing. As a countless source of steel testicle jokes (and variations thereof), he was a constant muse for my friends and me. Not only does it look like his head might have shrunk a bit, but it seems unlikely he could get al that hair in there. I’m tackling this wave in pairs, so I can get through it a bit faster, and that brings us to Iceman and Legion! Unfortunately, I’ve only moved mine a little and it already has some stress marks by the ball joint on the tassels.I mean, I was already behind, and then I had three new waves arrive and I just keep getting in deeper and deeper! I was profoundly disappointed that Legion wasn’t included in the first Age of Apocalypse Wave, considering he is the reason for the season so to speak. The first assortment had some heavy hitters and the amazing Sugar Man Build-A-Figure, so it’s going to be a tough act to follow.

With over 80 years of comic book history, Marvel has become a cornerstone of fan collections around the world. Also, believe the head is carried over from the Warlock Series figure, too, but with an obviously new paint deco. This is actually hard to tell though, so might be wrong because some of the details and angles look a bit softer here.I am going to try to check in again this weekend with Sabretooth and then double up the rest of the reviews for this assortment, so we’ll see how that goes! There’s nothing groundbreaking here, as Hasbro didn’t have to do a whole lot to convert their regular Magneto to the AoA version, so it’s fair to say he’s one of the budget saving figures in this assortment. The left shoulder pad armor is also an add-on tucked in place by this piece, and looks terrific covered in a multitude of painted, sculpted studs. There are no surprises in the articulation, although he does lack the swivels in the lower legs that we often see in the modern Legends line.

I didn’t have the vision or dexterity to attach this piece myself, but my wife popped it in quickly despite worrying it might break since the tassels are so petite. Inspired by both iconic Marvel comic books and blockbuster movies from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, these highly detailed 6-inch-scale Legends Series action figures are a perfect tribute to that legacy. There’s some notable slop around the purple accents, and while on the subject of paint slop, the neck ring is pretty messy too. The red plastic is the same, and even the belt is lifted for this figure, albeit looking more purple than blue.Despite some issues, I really do like this figure, especially since I was sorry to see him omitted from the first wave. Hasbro even blesses us with a rare pair of alternate hands for a BAF, giving the choice to pose Age of Apocalypse Colossus with fists for bashing or Zangief-like grappling hands. With over 80 years of comic book and movie history, Marvel has become a cornerstone of fan collections around the world. These highly articulated Marvel Legends Series figures feature intricate character detailing, making them excellent for both play and display. Colossus isn’t Spider-Man and doesn’t need to be in any extreme poses, but I am happy with his articulation scheme and could easily get him posed in all the ways I wanted to.
