About this deal

As capable a fighting machine as the Hellcat undoubtedly was, this was only part of the story as to why the aircraft had such a dramatic impact on the Pacific air war. but, they most certainly spray well straight out of the bottle (used the MRP for the underside and green top side). Unfortunately, his aircraft sustained significant damage during these actions and he himself had been wounded by shrapnel, a situation made all the worse when he noticed four Zeros on his tail, all lining up for an easy victory.

Following on from advise in a nother thread I have sprayed the grey, and with great care in masking, started on the second color. None of it is visible and so because I feared I was going to damage something intrinsic it I kept on fitting and unfitting, I took out the frames and, while still very tight, I finally managed to get a fit and a glue to give me a finished fuselage. It shows up better in actuality than the photo but the effect is VERY subtle, maybe too subtle to be worthwhile. As chuck540z3 says on his hellcat build, there's a complete dearth of pictures of the rear of the engine. The final treat is the image showing an almost complete Hellcat with engine installed and wing/cockpit detail exposed – this one really does have us all eagerly anticipating the arrival of this magnificent new model kit.

Usually, a new tooling announcement would result in a prototype model being shown at the time of the official unveiling, however in this case, we were not only able to show a fully completed and decorated Hellcat, but also several sectional builds, which effectively highlighted the impressive levels of detail incorporated into the design of this kit.Astonishingly, during this fighting, five VF-27 pilots achieved the status of ‘Ace in a day’, with five aerial victories to their name, one of which was Lt. As this is a 1/24th scale kit, Chris knew that he would be able to incorporate much greater levels of detail into this project than is possible with smaller scales, following the actual construction details of the Hellcat much more faithfully. Can anyone suggest the best glue (type) to enable me to 'temporarily glue' the engine panels in place for paining, but be able to remove some/all the panels afterwards without damaging the underlying paint.

But it goes on very well and then we can go with getting the open gun bay flap doors sorted and weathered. All the 'bits'n'bobs' got added, flaps, undercarriage, ordinance, antennas and pitot (have lean't that they get added very last thing else I always end up snapping them off no matter how careful I try to be! Since joining the company last year, new Airfix Product Designer Paramjit Sembhi has quickly become an important member of the team, as well as featuring in several previous editions of the Workbench blog. Operated by both Naval and Army Air Force units, the Zero ruled the skies over the Pacific for almost three years of fighting and when America was dragged into the conflict following the attack on Pearl Harbor, they quickly learned that their current naval fighters were no match for this agile Japanese fighter. It's the oil cooler but all the oil cooler assembly sits behind the firewall so presumably all the oil pipes from the oil tank and the engine which are in front of the firewall have to get through there somehow. The trade off is that if i use a 1mm wire inside it to give a nice tight look to the lines then it's going to be harder to shape after the engine is glued in. The first 100 editions was only the start and we look forward to bringing you much more engaging modelling content in the months and years to come – onwards to edition number 200! The fit of the wings is complicated by numerous internal ribs, many of which in retrospect are unnecessary and impede a clean fit.
