Du Beke has also reprised his partnerships with Lesley Garret and Ann Widdecombe for the 2004 and 2018 Christmas specials, respectively.Raymond de Guise, home on leave and still affected by the death of his brother, is desperate to help so he joins a night watch. Raymond De Guise is on leave from the army after Dunkirk and the distance between himself and his wife, Nancy seems to be growing. It was a great page turning and it was such a lovely feeling catching up with all our favourite characters again.

However, Raymond is driven, after the death of his brother, to go out every night to help on the streets with the ARP going to bombed out areas and tackling fires.R F Delderfield, A J Cronin, or Howard Spring, the likes of which I haven't seem until I started reading Anton's books. Anton Du Beke is one of this generation's all-round entertainers; the King of Ballroom, Strictly Come Dancing royalty, and household name. I was immediately swept up into the glamour of the ballroom and the dramas of London wartime during the blitz. But for the chambermaids to the dancers that entertained the guests, everything was about to change as the country needed its able-bodied men to take up arms and fight in the war against Germany.

On swapping the dance floor for the judges panel, he told Chris: “I feel really happy right now, because I’m really loving the show, I’m loving being a judge on the show. Some were likeable ( the sweet Frank Nettleton) to the not so likeable ( the horrid Lord Edgerton) . As the skies split apart and bombs rain down on London, it's all the staff at the famed Buckingham Hotel can do to keep their guests in the luxury they're accustomed to, and evoke the magic of the Grand ballroom for them each night.Anton Du Beke – the King of Ballroom, ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ royalty, and household name – is one of this generation’s all-round entertainers. It did take me longer than usual to read this book but i think deep down I was making it last as long as possible. There is still the glitz and glamour of the Great Ballroom but there are also the harsh realities of the early days of World War 2. From its beautiful cover on the hardcover edition I had this story pulled me into the glamour of the Buckingham, the ballroom and dancing, along with the horror of the war. Now as many of us know, this author can dance but does his talent on the ballroom floor extend to the written word?
