There's a pleasant orangey opening but I can't really detect any ginger or indeed much of anything on the dry-down. it is a heavy scent if smelled too close and doesnt really project much either unless its really hot. There are three sorts of ginger: Nigerian, Chinese and "purple ginger" developed in Givaudan laboratory.

On me, the opening notes of citrus jump out- grapefruit and subtle tinges of pomelo and even a whiff of yuzu. It's a mixture of oranges and orange blossom, which smells glorious even for somebody who doesn't like citrus. Not so much as to be in Niche territory, but they are on the outskirts of convention amongst the conventional. i started wearing it and the amount of compliments i got with this compared to all my other colognes is insane. RFR takes exotic and seldom used notes and weaves them into a wondrous artful fragrance, not unlike the simple but tightly woven reeds on the flacon.

Wearing this as i'm writing this review and as others reviewers have pointed out before me it has below average longevity or worse, but it's a great clean citrus scent. SUMMARY: A very low projection, citrus (clementine, tangerine), white floral (orange blossom), and spicy (ginger, marjoram, thyme) fragrance with very soft woody and floral accords.
