About this deal

Schwartz did a wonderful job of also depicting what the two most important things in this book should be. I knew that if he were ever to be “corrected,” it would only be through the intercession of some power other than my own.

In that sense, I'm not sure Lionel's insights into Jeff are particularly worthwhile in terms of what they reveal about Jeff, but they are certainly worthwhile in terms of what the reveal about him and about human nature in general. Schwartz gives a blow by blow account of how she came to be the first reporter to break the Dahmer story and the subsequent events, including the shameful behavior of some reporters as they scrambled to interview Jeffrey's parents. Those were interesting but a much better approach would have to been to look into the mind of Jeffrey Dahmer an expose the why of what he did. Throughout the book Lionel needs to find a narrative about his son that he can live with, one that he can accept, one that resonates. There's a part of me, and I truly believe others that sometimes you just need to understand why some certain people are the way they are no matter how bat shit crazy they may seem.Lionel Dahmer opens the book with an acknowledgement that he’ll be donating some of the proceeds of the book to the families of the victims his son had killed.

Then, your hair will stand on end when you notice that he points his finger at the ground floor of the apartment building where you stay in.

She talks about how much the Dahmer story and murders evolved as the case was cracked open (there were instances where her story didn’t match with the story I’ve heard throughout my life, and it made me question whose truth was the actual truth? The most horrifying thing is most serial killers appear so normal they could be anyone including your neighbor or friend.

Parents from all walks of life—but especially professing Christians—need to recognize the battle that evil wages against these young souls when the hormones are raging, the friends are pulling, and minds are reeling with new and fantastic ideas. A Father's Story cannot claim to have discovered the ultimate solution to the enigma of either the criminal or his deeds. Other reviews comment that it is difficult to like Lionel Dahmer as an author, which makes the book difficult to enjoy. Between long, rambling barely-coherent attempts to place his son's crimes into the context of his own failings as a person (Not a revelation goes by without an accompanying "Perhaps I had been naSo… maybe if the theory of evolution had not poisoned Jeff’s mind to the extent where he thought human life was cheap and worthless, he wouldn’t have killed all those men. One night in July 1991, two policemen saw a man running handcuffed from the apartment of Jeffrey Dahmer. She argued that policemen were not perfect and had no any idea of what a serial killer’s behavioral patterns are. Gacy lured victims to his home with the promise of work or a warm bed and then duped them into putting on handcuffs, claiming he wanted to show them a magic trick.
