For optimum results, it is advised that you test your chosen surface for compatibility, any reaction will occur within an hour, If a reaction is evident, remove all paint then wash down with degreaser and rinse with clean water and allow to dry.Paint a test patch of Hammerite Direct to Rust Metal Paint onto painted surfaces and leave for 1 hour. If applying Hammerite Metal Paint to smooth metal surfaces, lightly abrade to achieve maximum adhesion. For narrow railings and fences, use a narrow brush, whilst for larger metal objects such as garden furniture, a broad brush is best. Apply two thin coats of Hammerite Direct to Rust Metal Paint in Smooth finish for the best results, leaving to dry in between as per instructions on back of pack.
