Made with heavily peated barley before being matured in ex-bourbon casks, and finished in hand-selected Spanish Rioja casks, this single malt contains powerful flavours of smoke, spice, grape and sweet berries, with a lingering saltiness. Another well made SIngle Cask Ledaig from Elixir Distiller's under The Single Malts of SAcotland range. A heavily peated expression from Tobermory distillery on the Isle of Mull, this 10 year old single malt is matured in superior oak casks, combining the dark, aromatic lochan water from high on the mountains with exclusively peat-dried malted barley.

The 10 has plenty of fans and scored highly in the online whisky realm, becoming Ralfy’s whisky of the year 2022. This mystery peated whisky from the Isle Of Mull is a spirit known by the original distillery name, meaning ‘safe haven’. Prior to Burn Stewart’s involvement, the distillery had gone through periods of producing both peated and unpeated whiskies. The label clearly and transparently shows you all the key information, including: the nature of the liquid (for example, single malt scotch) where it was distilled; how old it is; and how strong it is. My 2nd favourite; Lagavulin 16 brought more nostalgia and sweetness to the table, but less initial crispness.
