I bought this beautiful book as a gift for a friend's great-granddaughter who is 4 years old and still hoping to find her first fairy. I loved the Flower Fairies so much when I was young and now being able to read this with my daughter was such a lovely experience.Obviously I was planning on slowly tracking down the remainder of the flower fairies books for my collection, and this book proves why we collectors make a point of gathering multiple editions or reissued work! This book has lovely poetry, which at times I struggle with since I am not that much into poetry, but the drawings, colorings, the feel of the book just makes you want more.

Most of the wild and cultivated plants included in the Flower Fairy books can still be easily found, and still, we hope, continue to inspire future generations of all ages. Presented in a treasury box set that retains all the charm of Beatrix Potter’s originals, this is the perfect gift for any child. In my opinion this would be a lovely book to read together with any young child, but is particularly interesting for girls of all ages. Yet this larger book size chose not to display in kind, and instead opted to place multiple fairies (out of frame occasionaly) with their poems on a single page. An important factor to it's charm is that CMB drew the picture and then wrote the poems, truly capturing the personality of it all.Featuring a fascinating introduction by Val McDermid and new illustrations by Juan Esteban Rodríguez, each copy has been signed by both the introducer and the illustrator.

The entire read is a magical experience filled with load of educational information and beyond cute in so many delightful ways! The Complete Book of the Flower Fairies is a charming book, which will have your little one entertained for hours with the beautiful art work and wonderful poetry. But having said that, the illustrations (also done by the author) are by far the best and most memorable thing about this book, and the reason it got 4 stars from me on Goodreads despite mostly being utter drivel. The artist`s skill brings all her paintings to life, there is not one fairy that is not beautiful,unique,fascinating and completely delicious.When Cicely Mary Barker wrote and illustrated her first book, Flower Fairies of the Spring, little could she have imagined that it would be the foremost title in a best-selling series that remains beloved almost 100 years later.
