About this deal

Gwen is tryna get back in the saddle after a traumatic breakup, but things goes from bleak to abysmal when her dates start getting picked off one by one. After a curious incident with one potential date via the app, he sends her a cryptic message about a dead jogger. Gwen procura o namorado perfeito numa aplicação do telemóvel chamada Connector, mas só tem encontros com rapazes estranhos que acabam todos por morrer em circunstâncias ainda mais estranhas. And like miss Finlay and her horny detective, we have a (unnecessary IMO) love story between Gwen and Dandy Lyons that includes sex in his superior's office (professionalism? Likes: true-crime podcasts, cheese-based snacks (the more unnaturally orange the better) and constantly refreshing her dating apps.

I loved this book and if anyone ever asks me again why I don’t like dating apps I’ll be recommending this book. Once you start reading, the book becomes impossible to put down, compelling you to devour it in a single day.Don’t Swipe Right may be a murder mystery, but it was also a fun read ( you don’t often get to say that when a serial killer is involved). But when a string of murders suddenly occurs in her small coastal English city, she’s shocked by the connection between each of the victims—they’ve all been on a date with her. If you're looking for a modern murder mystery with some great dark humour and a female main character that you can get behind, this is it. Reeling from a disastrous break-up with her long-term boyfriend, Gwen Turner is on a mission to move on, as fast as possible. He lives in London, thinking of twists for murder mysteries while practising the banjo, much to the annoyance of his neighbours.

Swiping through the few eligible bachelors left in town, she spends her evenings out on one disastrous date after another. And just when you thought you had everything figured out, the true identity of the serial killer is unveiled, catching you completely off guard.

From the opening chapter to discovering who the murderer was I couldn’t stop myself from flicking the pages, it was an enthralling easy read. Her journey through a host of murders in the milleu of Eastbournes dating scene is funny, fast paced and wildly unpredictable. Comedic thrillers can be hard to pull off because most of the time they start of super funny and punchy but lose steam as they go along.

I thought the jokey jokes were pretty evenly dispersed throughout the book, and there were several legit laugh out loud moments. Although the conclusion definitely pulled me out of the story a bit with just how outlandish it got. Initially, Gwen's breakup with Noah seems like the major revelation, leaving you somewhat underwhelmed.

Because of her actions throughout the course of the plot I can't say I ever warmed to her as a character, and I really didn't like how her story arc played out, but I enjoyed the plot enough to see it through to the end. Let’s face it, I’m sure we’ve all got a tale or two to tell when it comes to the perils of online dating. It is a delightful blend of humour and thrills that can be appreciated by readers of all preferences. I just only have it 4 stars as Gwen did give me pick me vibes every once in a while and it made me cringe.
