About this deal

You should talk to your centre if you think there has been a mistake in the marking of either the core assessment or occupational specialism assessments.

In progress” means that something is currently being worked on towards a state of further development or completion. Usually, completion isn’t guaranteed; we’re simply saying that we’re working on furthering the progress of something towards an end goal. However, if you’re going to use either one, make sure you’re using American English. If you’re using British English, most native speakers will see “work in process” as an incorrect saying and will ask you why you used it instead of “work in progress.”Awarding organisations can continue to adapt exams and assessments in vocational and technical qualifications this year, to take account of the disruption caused by the pandemic. Some of these changes will also apply to the November 2022 GCSE English language and mathematics re-sit exams. There will be advance information deployed for both subjects in July, and a formulae sheet will be available for mathematics. Advance information is to help you focus your revision, rather than reduce what you cover during your course.

Of course, every year there is competition for the top places or on the most popular courses but there will always be plenty of options for students at another university, through clearing. It’s important that your results reflect what you know and can do, and that you are ready and able to progress onto the next stage of your education, training or employment. For this reason, Ofqual has set out the ways in which awarding organisations can adapt their assessments for these qualifications. In some sense, in process seems to make logical sense, as does in progress, but it is comparatively rare to hear anyone use this term in speech or writing.
