About this deal

Ancor più significativa la scena finale dove viene uccisa una povera bambina vietnamita che evidentemente cercava solo di difendersi dagli invasori. substantially in overall appearance. Early scenes do not immediately stand out as visual stunners; after all, there's only so much you can do with

Less interested in the horrors of war and more interested in exposing the horrors of what the US did to their own The film immediately shifts to Act Two, in Vietnam. Joker has attained the rank of sergeant and is a correspondent for "Stars and Stripes." Although he seems to like the job, he questions his superior about the euphemisms that are being used by U.S. forces to describe their actions in Vietnam. "Search and destroy," for example, becomes "sweep and clear." The survivors finally find the sniper. And it is there, in the movie's penultimate scene, that Joker must face a moral choice -- or, more accurately, a dilemma, as there is no good choice to be made. Still, he must decide -- and makes a decision that surely will haunt him for years to come.perpetually behind the curve for high-definition audio in those days, as that disc actually replaced an even earlier Blu-ray with lossy Dolby Clearly the stars of the piece are R. Lee Ermey's Gunnery Sergeant, who basically spends the first half of the movie shouting, and Vincent D'Onofrio's beleaguered sap Private Pyle. They dominate the highly memorable first half of the movie with some electric dialogue - Ermey's alone including some of the most quotable lines in movie history. These are fierce performances that echo throughout the movie, and overshadow the latter half, where Matthew Modine and a young Adam Baldwin take centre stage to face the horrors of urban guerrilla warfare. Both Modine and Baldwin deliver some of their best work, but it still pales in comparison to the opening scenes. One of Joker's pals is Rafterman, a combat photographer who is frustrated with simply taking pictures; he wants to see the action, the front lines. Joker, who outranks him, basically tells him that, if he has his way, Rafterman won't get his chance. Rafterman's mother, Joker jokes, would do him physical harm when he returned to the States if he'd let anything happen to her son.

The film was theatrically matted for 1.85:1 but presented in 1.33:1 open matte on many earlier home video releases, which followed Speaking of which...one welcome addition to this 4K release is the film's original mono audio mix (a rarity among Warner releases), which has not been company traverse during the film's final stretch. It works in tandem with the tighter image detail to create a more realistic appearance overall, aidedquite pleasing and purists are sure to appreciate it. Although I'll admit to being used to the surround mix by now, there are times during Full Metal There are so many things wrong with that stance that I would have trouble finding where to begin. But I will say this: Each of these films is its own world, and each is very much a product of its director's style and vision, and each does different things. "Apocalypse Now" is Francis Ford Coppola's take on the war, and it's the most surreal and deliberately absurd. Michael Cimino's "The Deer Hunter" benefited from its significant focus on the home front during the war -- while the director did present the trauma suffered by soldiers, he also succeeded in depicting the hurts the war inflicted on loved ones, families, even an entire community. Oliver Stone's "Platoon" was, oddly, the most "realistic" of the four films, and in my opinion the least imaginative, though I still think it's a fine film. Im Mittelpunkt der Handlung stehen SERGEANT JAMES „JOKER“ DAVIS (Matthew Modine), LEONARD „PAULA“ LAWRENCE (Vincent D'Onofrio) und SERGEANT ROBERT „COWBOY“ EVANS (Arliss Howard).
