About this deal

This warranty covers any defects in materials or workmanship, including installation, with the exceptions stated below. As I've mentioned above, these electric air dusters are quite strong and they should be treated with the respect you would give to any other power tool. They are technically loud enough to warrant ear protection during extended use and should not be used around pets or children under the age of 5. We won’t bore you too much with the tech specs, so see the table below for all the information you need to know about peak power, CFM, etc. Construction: While compressed air products are a lot less damaging to the environment then they used to be due to the banning of CFCs (CHLOROFLUOROCARBONS), they can still be bad for the environment. This is because they still use propellants such as tetrafluoroethane (HFC-143a) which is considered a potent greenhouse gas. Speaking of plastics, the ED500-ESD comes with a concentrator nozzle, an air-flare nozzle, an air-pin pointer, and an added dust brush nozzle. As previously mentioned, these are made from ESD-safe plastics that do not hold or dissipate any static electricity.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the filter will need to be replaced given enough use and time. This isn’t a major problem as the filters are very cheap and you can even clean them a bit to get a bit more life out of them. MetroVac also sells a whole load of other spares as well, from new handles, nozzles and more. Conclusion – Should You Buy the DataVac ED-500-ESD? The ED500P is a totally capable electric duster, which is almost powerful enough to do yard work. But this is not without its downsides. The first one you will notice is that the DataVac is quite loud. It is easily as loud as a Shop-Vac and if you plan to do some serious cleaning projects with it, you may want to consider ear protection. The other side effect is that this device runs hot after a few minutes of use. Thankfully, the sturdy plastic handle mitigates any discomfort that this may cause while you are using it, though you should still avoid touching its all-steel frame when you use it. The multi-purpose DataVac® Electric Duster® is designed to blast dust, dirt and debris off of your expensive tech equipment. Regular use of the DataVac® Electric Duster® can help to ensure your office and electronic gear is dust-free and running at maximum efficiency. Unlike traditional canned air blowers, it features greener power that is more eco-friendly than alternate options on the market. Its green energy source means the ED-500 is more effective and cost-efficient when compared to other models.

We not only found the DataVac ESD excellent for use on electronics such as keyboards, PCs, ect., but it was also really useful on our vehicles as well. Cleaning in-between crevices and around small storage compartments that are more difficult to clean with a vacuum cleaner works really well. To get the best clean, we found that using the DataVac first and then following up with a vacuum works really well. We even used the DataVac to blow off water after doing an exterior wash as well, although this probably isn’t worth doing as it takes a bit of time. Before and AfterDataVac Electric Duster.....I love this thing. I just got it the other day and I was so excited. Small, tight and very powerful it actually jumps a little from the torque when you start it up. I am quite the computer geek so it will come in very handy, but I can already see myself using it for all kinds of things. One of MetroVac’s big selling points for the DataVac is that it is a “green” alternative to compressed air. There is quite a lot of talk about how bad compressed air can be for the environment, but we thought we would investigate further ourselves. The flagship 500 Watt internal power unit has been further optimised to deliver enhanced power at lower working temperatures. This combined with innovative changes to the internal air channels, creates a powerful stream of fresh and filtered air which can remove even the most stubborn dust.

First impressions of the DataVac ESD were excellent. The duster feels extremely well built with a nice and strong metal construction. The handle has a good feel to it and is comfortable, and the rest of the accessories/attachments feel good quality as well. While the price is quite high, you definitely get the impression that the DataVac will last a long time given its fantastic build quality. Operating the DataVac ED-500-ESD Electric Duster Using the DataVa is about as simple as can be in all honesty. Once you have fitted a nozzle/attachment and plugged the DataVac in, simply press the button on the left side and the duster roars into life. So you've committed to keeping your PC clean. Great. But how often should you actually open up your case and blow out dust? The answer depends on where you keep your PC. The MetroVac DataVac® ESD Safe Electric Duster® is a compact yet unbelievably powerful computer and equipment duster.

How Often Should You Dust Your PC?

You can also control the force by fitting the smaller nozzle attachment or the “Micro Cleaning Tool Kit” as MetroVac calls it. This is definitely the way to go if you are dusting more delicate components, but there is something satisfying about using the larger Crevice Tool attachment and just blowing a whole load of dust away in one go.

While the ED500-ESD is nearly identical to the MetroVac ED500P, this model is better (and more expensive) because it is grounded, is made from ESD-safe plastic, and comes with an anti-static wrist strap. This helps to prevent damage to your PC’s most sensitive components. But don’t fully discount the ED500P for PC case cleaning, as many users have reported safely using the ED500P to clean out their PC cases for years without any negative consequences. The DataVac is definitely a more environmentally friendly product in that it only requires electricity and air to run, not harmful propellants. However, if we are adding manufacturing into the equation a single compressed air can is probably less harmful than a DataVac, but overtime the electric duster will be much better for the environment.Compressed air cans are also inconvenient to use. They have to be used in short bursts or else they can become cold enough to cause frostbite. They also have to be used standing upright or else the liquid difluoroethane inside can leak out. The Sin Shine Compucleaner 3.0 is one of the most recognized names in the (ultra-niche) electric computer duster market for its cost-efficient air movement and its lightweight form factor. The Compucleaner 3.0 is only 1.9 pounds, making it easy to maneuver. Despite the name, this duster is effectively sized for cleaning cameras, printers, medical devices, and furniture just as well as computers. The XPower A-2 Airrow Pro is one of the most useful electric dusters around because its high-powered motor and nine detachable nozzles lend it to additional uses beyond dust removal. This electric duster comes with three different air pump adapters so that it can be used to inflate airbeds, small boats, and other inflatables. If you are a tech professional on the go, then you may not always have the luxury of an available outlet to plug in an electric duster. That’s where the Opolar Cordless Electric Air Duster comes in handy. This device has a 6000mAh battery that allows it to run for up to 30 minutes without being plugged in. This provides much more maneuverability without sacrificing the power you get from larger units like the DataVac DP500P.
