About this deal

A standalone panel by comic artist Lee Sullivan shows Casanova, as played by David Tennant in the 2005 BBC miniseries, meeting the Ninth Doctor and Rose Tyler amidst an invasion of Venice's St Mark's Square by bronze Daleks. [1] The Doctor then took Rose to Justice Alpha, the first alien planet she had ever stood on. The pair were arrested for trespassing, and Rose was incarcerated on Justice Beta while the Doctor was sent to a non-human prison on Justice Prime. Rose soon uncovered that the whole prison system had been infiltrated by the Blathereen family, who intended to use the prisoners as resources for their own devious plan. Eventually Rose and the Doctor were reunited on Justice Delta, and with the help of some prison inmates and a trio of Slitheen, were able to thwart the Blathereen plot. Development [ edit ] Casting [ edit ] 2005–10 executive producer Russell T Davies (pictured) deliberately recycled the names "Rose" and "Tyler" from names he had used in previous works. Freudian Excuse: The Nestene lost its protein planets in the Time War and mentions "constitutional rights" as it explains its invasion plans to the Doctor.Put on a Bus: Rose's mother and boyfriend are simply left behind in 21 st century London, with the Doctor's assurance that she can return to them mere minutes after she left if she wants to. It doesn't actually work out that way in future episodes, but on paper it's a perfectly plausible promise to make. I was very similar at 19. I wanted something to happen in life, I wanted a bit more. I wanted to find someone who could challenge my ideas. So I definitely tapped into that." Cole, Tom (26 January 2012). "To Gallifrey, then beyond! The title of the first episode of Series 1, Rose, is a references to the character's name and she is the first character to appear in that episode. Therefore, she is also simultaneously the first character to appear in Series 1 and the first to be seen in a Doctor Who television episode for nine years (the interval between the 1996 Doctor Who television movie and Rose).

The Doctor attempted to take Rose to the Galápagos Islands, but the TARDIS landed in Twycross instead. The Doctor suddenly noticed a large gathering of monkeys, and used a bunch of bananas to lead them into the TARDIS. Travelling just outside the monkey enclosure at the Twycross Zoo, the Doctor discovered that a group of five humans had been trapped inside. After freeing them and learning that they had been trapped by the "Zoo mascot" in "the lizard suit," he took Rose to the Reptile House. There, they discovered that the reptile zookeeper was, in fact, a Silurian named Wanda who had trapped the humans in the enclosure because she believed that they were monkeys. After teaching Wanda about many of the differences between monkeys and humans, the Doctor and Rose again departed for the Galápagos Islands. ( COMIC: Untitled) Rose Tyler is a fictional character in the British science fiction television series Doctor Who. She was created by series producer Russell T Davies and portrayed by Billie Piper. With the revival of Doctor Who in 2005, Rose was introduced as a new travelling companion of the series protagonist, the Doctor, in his ninth and tenth incarnations. The companion character, intended to act as an audience surrogate, was key in the first series to introduce new viewers to the mythos of Doctor Who, which had not aired regularly since 1989. Rose became the viewers' eyes into the new world of the series, from the companion's perspective. Piper received top billing alongside Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant for the duration of her time as a regular cast member. The character was a series regular for all of Series 1 (2005) and 2 (2006). Piper later reprised the role in a supporting capacity in Series 4 (2008) and the 2010 New Year Special, The End of Time. Piper further played a sentient weapon known as 'The Moment', which utilises Rose's image in the 50th anniversary special, The Day of the Doctor.

She almost didn't appear in The Stolen Earth/ Journey's End due to Billie Piper's honeymoon. At one stage, she was to only appear in an epilogue where the Doctor drops the Meta-Crisis Doctor in her parallel Earth. [ source needed] According to another account, they broke up after being together for a year, sometime in late 2003. When he left, Rose told him that "he'd come to no good one day", as he stole her secondhand computer which he stashed inside his car. ( PROSE: Rose) A very long time ago, in a faded memory. Melody Pond went on a field trip to London, where she met a blond chav who changed her life for the better. This isn't that story, no, that story hardly matters. It is only a false start. This is the true beginning, this is how Melody Pond fell in love with Rose Tyler, and how she forgot. Series Cook, Benjamin; Piper, Billie (25 July 2008). Nothing Is the Same Anymore: The Time Lords are extinct, the TARDIS' interior has changed dramatically, and the Doctor shows up after having just recently regenerated (and changed his wardrobe) offscreen.Celibate Hero: Lampshaded when the Doctor points out to Rose's mum that nothing is going to happen. The scene was probably put in there to avert fan worries over the countless He Is Not My Boyfriend moments to come. Nine of course would be proven dead wrong. Writer Russell T Davies, Director Graeme Harper, Producer Phil Collinson (1 July 2007). " Army of Ghosts". Doctor Who. Series 2. Episode 12. Cardiff. BBC. BBC One. Rose discovered a Slitheen scout in a funfair who, after trying out the rides, planned to make a twisted version of the fair where humans would be hunted. The Slitheen chased Rose down a water slide, where at the bottom, the Doctor had filled the water in the pool with vinegar from a chip van, causing the Slitheen to explode. ( PROSE: No Fun at the Fair)

Rose and the Doctor met the 63rd iteration of the band Pakafroon Wabster aboard a Magellan-class star cruiser. The ship was caught in a time loop, replaying the few hours leading up to its destruction by sabotage. The Doctor and Rose worked with the band to identify the saboteur and find a way of breaking the time loop. ( COMIC: Interstellar Overdrive) In 2020, actress Sophie Aldred released a brand-new novel featuring the 13th Doctor and Ace called At Childhood's End. When the Doctor and Donna were conversing with two psychics in 79 AD Pompeii, one of them, Lucius Petrus Dextrus, noted, "she is returning", a foreshadowing of Rose's return. ( TV: The Fires of Pompeii) However, PROSE: Meet Rose, a short story from Doctor Who Annual 2006, states that Rose was born on 27 April 1987. Although this contradicts the age stated in several television stories (she would have been about two months under eighteen when she met the Doctor), it is consistent with the appearance of the baby Rose in Father's Day, set on 7 November 1987, where the baby is a few months old. Rise of the Cybermen establishes that Rose was six months old at the time of Pete's death, which would place her birth around early May or late April, seemingly agreeing with the Annual dating. Furthermore, The Vault: Treasures from the First 50 Years, states that Rose was eighteen during Rose.

There’s plenty of other references not only to the RTD era, but the whole show aswell. I found myself constantly grinning during these moments! With that, we have the very first story of what is now dubbed the revival series of Doctor Who; everything before this point is considered the classic series. Following the folding of AudioGO and Big Finish's acquisition of the new series license, Piper reprised her role as Rose in Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor Adventures released in November 2017, with David Tennant reprising his role as the Tenth Doctor. The stories include Infamy of the Zaross, Sword of the Chevalier and Cold Vengeance. [41] Piper returned again for Rose Tyler: The Dimension Cannon, a series featuring Rose as the main character travelling through parallel worlds in search of the Doctor. MacGuffin Blindness: The Doctor is looking for a big round antenna in the heart of London in which the Nestene Consciousness may have hidden its transmitter. As he's saying this, right behind him framing his head is the London Eye (a giant Ferris wheel). Rose spots it, but she has to point it out three times before the Doctor catches on.
