About this deal

Removes waterborne pathogens including virus (e.g. Rotavirus, SARS, Hepatitis A, Norovirus), bacteria (e.g. E. coli, Cholera, Salmonella, Dysentery) and Protozoa (e.g. Giardia, Cryptosporidium, Amoebae). Durability: built tough to perform in harsh conditions and withstands 10 ft drops (full of water) onto concrete. Filters:Particulates (sediment, microplastics) and ultra-powdered activated carbon adsorbs many chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, heavy metals, VOCs, flavors and odors. On the UltraPress, there is a paracord D-ring loop that allows you to tie the paracord on, lower the cup down to the water source, fill it up, raise it, and be ready for filtering. A small feature yes, but one that oozes efficiency. Drink Mix Ready

My first gripe about the UltraPress came on a morning I wanted to use the outer cup on a stove to boil water. I never got to that point because the outer cup didn’t fit on any of the stoves in our camp. It’s just too narrow. All of the water from the outer cup has passed through the filter and is now inside the inner core. Open that top cap and enjoy. Paracord D-Ring (Photo/Josh Kirchner) Of course, with normal use, the UltraPress “press time” will be longer as the filter gets dirty and clogged with debris. Generally speaking though, the UltraPress pressing-action is smoother and faster than my previous experiences with the Ultralight model and more closely reflects the user experience of the GeoPress. UltraPress vs GeoPress Performance? Award winning OnePress® global filtration and purification is effective for use on all 7 continents and empowers adventurers to drink from the world’s sketchiest freshwater.

GRAYL Geopress vs. Ultrapress: What’s the Difference?

The other slight differences are in the design. The Ultrapress dropped the cap leash for weight reasons, and it has a slightly smaller (albeit 90-degree adjustable) carry handle. Testing the GRAYL Geopress vs. Ultrapress

After using the Ultralight Compact Bottle for many years – there are a few key differences worth noting between the Ultralight and the UltraPress. First off: the UltraPress has a much smoother and faster press. RiverFlow™spoutdelivers a fast-flow of clean drinking water for chugging, filling hydration reservoirs and other bottles. If you have access to a dishwasher, most of the Grayl UltraPress is dishwasher safe. The filter isn’t suitable for the dishwasher, so make sure you remove it first. Removes all waterborne pathogensincluding virus (e.g. Rotavirus, SARS, Hepatitis A, Norovirus), bacteria (e.g. E. coli, Cholera, Salmonella, Dysentery) and Protozoa (e.g. Giardia, Cryptosporidium, Amoebae).

Performance Comparison

Ultra-powdered activated carbonfiltersparticulates (sediment, microplastics) and adsorbs many chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, heavy metals, VOCs, flavors and odors. For the first few mornings, I simply used the outer cup as my coffee cup. The butterfly handle felt great in my hand and the cup did an awesome job of keeping my coffee warm. While that’s all well and good, I was really curious about how the filter would handle the heavy runoff water beneath our camp. (Photo/Josh Kirchner) Materials: Titanium, BPA-FREE polypropylene #5, food-grade silicone, TPE and ABS food-grade plastic. I found that with the Ultralight, after a while the press became very difficult to press, especially with the sort of awkward design of the lid. Grayl made an improvement here in a big way. The UltraPress cap is wider so your palms can use a flat pad to press down without the top lid digging into your hand. The filter lasts around 150 litres or 300 presses. However, if you’re purifying very dirty or silty water, the lifespan will be reduced. As you use the Grayl bottle, you’ll notice the press time (the time that the purification process takes) going up. When this reaches around 30 seconds, it’s time to replace the filter.

While simple, the purification process does require some effort, especially as the filter nears the end of its life. Due to the filter’s small pore size, the press required to force water through the filter can be tough on your hands, arms and shoulders. Durability: CP4 Grade 1 titanium offers unparalleled strength to weight ratio and withstands 6 ft drops (full of water) onto concrete. If you know you’ll have frequent water sources, why not carry a lighter bottle? In our opinion, a filter bottle should never be your only water storage, as you should carry another bottle or bladder for storing purified water. If you’re somewhere like a hostel, with no access to a dishwasher or safe tap water, you can wash the GeoPress with warm, soapy water. The washing-up liquid will remove any germs or bacteria. Allow the bottle to air dry after cleaning. FlipCarry® handle rotates 90° for effortless separation (Inner Press from Outer ReFill) and easy carrying; provides a large pressing surface when flat.Grayl’s UltraPress is significantly smaller than the GeoPress. The 2.5cm difference in height might not sound like a lot but it’s instantly noticeable. Compact and ridiculously easy-to-use requires zero setup and makes clean purified drinking water in 10 seconds (3L/min). Simply fill, press down, and drink. Unlike chemical or UV filtration, there’s no waiting around — purifying your water takes only a few seconds.

The GeoPress always felt bulky. Unless you’ve got hands like Dwayne Johnson, it feels super chunky, like you’re a child stealing from your parent’s flask. It’s not physically hard or uncomfortable to hold, it just doesn’t feel right. Filters: Particulates (sediment, microplastics) and ultra-powdered activated carbon adsorbs many chemicals (including PFAS & VOCs), pesticides, herbicides, heavy metals, flavors and odors. They’re also members of The Conservation Alliance, All Hands and Hearts, charity: water and are supporters of many more groups and organisations. Another unique feature of the Titanium UltraPress is the fact that it’s drink mix ready. This is something I’ve personally never heard of in a water filtration system.Even if you don’t use the Grayl UltraPress regularly, you should still change the filter after three years, when it reaches the end of its shelf life. Using the filter after this time may prove ineffective. Heat it up! Utilizing the butterfly handles, the Outer Ti Cup can be used to heat water and cook food alongside hot coals or near a direct flame. Can also be used with the Grayl titanium camp stove.
