About this deal

Interactive quizzes - at the end of each section there are interactive quizzes for the students to take and test themselves. Learn new skills - new full-colour 3D illustrations help you learn key principles and techniques for better riding

Memorably, I bailed out of a 'momentum' overtake almost alongside the vehicle I was lining up to pass when a Lamborghini came round the corner I was overtaking towards at a crazy speed - probably well over 100 mph. I only managed that because I wasn't carrying a big speed differential into the overtake. Learn new skills - clear explanations of advanced techniques, such as overtaking, positioning and limit points make you a safer, more competent rider Nearly half of drivers involved in a daylight collision with a motorcyclist fail to look properly and don't see the rider before the crash. How Motorcycle Roadcraft can help you become a better rider

Acknowledgements

Users can work at their own pace: A licence for a student will last 12 months from when they first log in, allowing them to work at their own pace to complete the course. The Police Foundation would like to thank the many individuals and organisations who gave so freely of their time and expertise in the preparation of this new edition of Motorcycle Roadcraft. Particular thanks go to Dr Lisa Dorn, Associate Professor of Driver Behaviour and Director of the Driving Research Group, Cranfield University; Dr Gemma Briggs, Senior Lecturer in Psychology at the Open University; Dr Julie Gandolfi, Driving Research Ltd; and Craig Arnold, Forensic Collision Investigator, Merseyside Police. Some sections of material in Chapters 1 and 3 are adapted from Human Aspects of Police Driving by kind permission of Dr Gordon Sharp and Police Scotland. If the injured party is a YAM member and is taken in an ambulance, find out which hospital they are being taken to and be prepared to go with them if possible. The new versions include a revised chapter on overtaking – with separate sections on passing stationary vehicles, single stage overtakes and multi-stage overtakes – and new explanations of advanced concepts, such as limit points on left-hand bends.

Since 1955, Roadcraft has been developed and updated by leading experts. Several new editions have been published between 1960 and 2013, each incorporating changes in legislation and improvements in driving practice while retaining the best of the previous editions. In 1965, the first edition of Motorcycle Roadcraft was published, followed by further editions between 1973 and 2013. Access the content from anywhere - the e-learning platform is internet based and compatible with any device.
