Just like other amps, the Sony STRDH190 is a rectangular box containing an amplifier, a preamp, and a phono stage, among other products. The STR-DH190 has four analog audio inputs and one output, for easy connection to your audio recording device and other audio equipment. My annoyance was connecting an iPhone or iPad to the old stereo which I did with lightning to 3.5 mm wired connection. This of course meant someone's phone or an iPad had to be sitting inside by the stereo - which was a pain, especially when batteries were running low. The old stereo also had lots of buttons and plenty of confusion when anybody but me was using it. The STR-DH190’s A+B function lets you connect two sets of front speakers. You can easily switch between A or B or use both together to run outdoor speakers or set them up in a different room from the same amp.But it works well with 4 ohms as well. Hence, you don’t have to worry about performance in this regard. However, with only two channels of amplification, surround sound reproduction is not catered for. So, if you’re more into movie watching than music listening, then the STRDH190 may not be the best option for you.
