About this deal

Excellent in that I could have any size I wanted (I was trying to source a gardening zone for my disabled wife). Drill and drill bits (if you have one available, it’s faster to use one drill for pre-drilling, then an impact driver for driving all the screws… they’re often sold together in combo kits so if you don’t have these, I highly recommend them!) Secondly the holes underneath the top pieces were drilled out badly and for the end two holes, incorrectly! The end two holes in each top piece don't take into account the the base of the plug that sits on top of the metal brace leaving a small gap. Why are these not drilled out correctly, it makes the whole thing look odd.

This raised garden bed comes with rust-proof steel crossbars, which prevent the wood from bowing under the weight of the soil.

Set Up & Assembly

Planter Bottoms- Planter bottom options provide drainage on hard surfaces such as concrete, allowing full-size vegetable gardens on rooftops, driveways and parking lots. Integrating a trellis into your raised bed will maximise production and create more space. Plants that can be grown on trellises include vegetables such as pole beans, peas, tomatoes and cucumbers. Some trellises are permanently attached to the raised bed, while others can be installed temporarily and taken down in the winter months.

If you’re strategic with your garden planning, you can use raised beds to conceal unsightly areas! Use a raised planter to section off the area where your wheelie bin is stored, or go for taller raised beds to conceal an ugly garden fence. We recommend letting the boards sit in a garage, shed or covered area for 3-5 days to allow the boards to acclimatize to their new environment. This helps to prevent anycupping, warping, and gapping.Height- Raised beds can be built as tall as you like in 5.5 inch board layers, the most popular heights being 11 to 22 inches. Taller raised beds reduce the need for bending over, help deter pests, and provide soil space for deep-rooted vegetables. Width- Raised beds around 3 to 4 feet wide provide the most growing space while still allowing access to the center of the bed. Narrower raised beds, 1.5 to 2 feet wide, are useful for along fences and the sides of houses, or wherever access is limited to one side. Our patented system makes it very easy to build our raised beds. Most designs can be constructed in a single day without any need for foundations, nails, screws or power tools - so you really can transform your garden in a weekend! To speed up your build, we recommend using our handy Dowel Cutter tool.

Octagonal raised beds make a striking centrepiece and can be used to plant virtually anything. A larger sized bed can accommodate a small tree or shrub, and look beautiful when surrounded by shade-loving plants. Two-tier raised beds are more space-efficient than regular raised beds, and they also offer a key advantage when it comes to planting. In regular raised beds, taller plants can stop sunlight from reaching the smaller plants, leading to stunted growth. Two-tier beds allow you to grow taller plants on the lower tier, and smaller plants at the top. If you’ve not got a huge garden, creating curved beds can help give the illusion of more space. Go the extra mile as in the image above and opt for a two-tiered curved garden bed. That’s almost double the planting space! WoodBlocX is suitable for sitting on any surface, including slopes - all you need is a suitable level surface.

Create a rustic raised bed using branches or scrap wood sourced from the garden. This method is affordable, good for the planet and highly rewarding. Longer branches can be weaved together to create a ‘wattle’ bed. You’ll need upright stakes and long, supple branches. Level the ground and follow these simple assembly instructions to set up your raised beds. Add an optional drainage layer, thenfill raised beds with a healthy soil mixture and you’re ready to plant! Incredibly High-Strength: The surface of Aluzinc is twice as hard as regular galvanized steel, and more than 5x harder than wood or plastic. With high wear resistance, Vego raised beds hold soil for decades without deforming. From our experience, the Hugelkultur method is the easiest and most cost-efficient method to use. Hugelkultur is a method of layering organic materials such as rotted hay, branches, plant waste, and compost to the soil. You can easily fill a raised garden bed using materials lying around in your yard. As the organic matter decomposes, it breaks down into nutrient rich soil that mimics the natural soil found in a forest. You can refer to this article for more detailed information.
