About this deal

It was no surprise to see some of my classmates showing up for Latin class smelling like booze and meeting friends of friends that were so high all they could do was shout “moonface” at everyone. When she was 12 years old, she began smoking hashish with a group of friends who were slightly older at a local youth club. They gradually began using stronger drugs such as LSD and various forms of pills and she ended up using heroin. By the time she was 14, she was heroin-dependent and a prostitute, mainly at West Berlin's then-largest railway station Bahnhof Zoo. During this period, she became part of a group of teenage drug-users and sex workers of both sexes. When Felscherinow was 19 years old, she went to the United States to promote the film about her; she was arrested for heroin and opium possession and had to leave the country. [2]

In 1979, the Stern publishing house published a book based on the interviews, Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo. The book chronicles Felscherinow's life from 1975 to 1978, between the ages of 12 and 15 years, and depicts several of Felscherinow's friends, along with other drug users, as well as scenes from typical locations of the Berlin drug scene at the time. The narrative of the book is in the first person, from Felscherinow's viewpoint, but was written by the journalists functioning as ghostwriters. [3] Others, such as Felscherinow's mother and various people who witnessed the escalating drug situation in Berlin at the time, also contributed to the book. Vera Christiane Felscherinow [1] (born 20 May 1962) is a German actress and musician who is best known for her contribution to the 1978 autobiographical book Christiane F. (original title: Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo), and the film and television miniseries based on the book, in which her teenage drug use is documented.

I hope that My Second Life scares people away from taking drugs more than my first book. I'm quite sure it will. It describes how much pain I've had in my life, and [explains] that I will die a very early and painful death. [2] The book is special for so many reasons. It is based on a real-life experience of young Christiane F who struggled with drug addiction most of her teenage years, it gives an extra layer of authenticity. What is more the story is brutally honest, the author does not shy away from the harsh and brutal realities of her obsession, prostitution and how far she was willing to go to feed her awful habit. “Zoo Station” also offers an insight into the youth culture of 1970s West Berlin. She describes the popularity of drugs, the influence of music and subcultures on young people. It shows how many of them were involved in hard drugs, and their sacrifice they were willing to take to get them, no matter of the consequences.

Richard Metzger (4 July 2013). "Heroin Chic: Christiane F., Teenage Junkie, Prostitute, Style Icon". Dangerous Minds . Retrieved 13 July 2013. More importantly, it means that we wish that with time, more and more people will jump on board sharing their pictures, their videos and their stories about everything mentioned in this book. When I hit the scene the next afternoon, no one was grieving for Atze. It makes sense: nobody cries on the street. But on the other hand some people were definitely pretty pissed at Atze. He’d ratted on good dealers who sold first-class junk, and now they were all sitting in jail. Also, Atze still owed a lot of people a lot of money.

There are only three languages to choose — German, English and Italian — but we hope to add more languages soon. Felscherinow stated in a December 2013 interview that while she continues to consume methadone and occasionally smokes a cannabis joint, alcohol is her main drug issue at the age of 51 years. In response to a question of why she never discontinued illicit drug use, she explained: "I never wanted to give them up. I didn't know anything else. I decided to live a different life to other people. I don't need a pretence to stop." [2] Discography [ edit ] Singles [ edit ] Once the film was released [in 1981], I didn’t know what was going on. Everywhere I went, there was my face on the poster. I felt so exposed. Later, I left for London to go to boarding school, then I moved to Paris. Forty years on, I still meet people who say: “Oh, you were that girl? It’s so great you don’t take drugs any more.” Felscherinow contracted hepatitis C from an infected needle in the late 1980s. She suffers from cirrhosis of the liver and rejects interferon treatment because of the side effects. [7] In 2013, Felscherinow stated: "I will die soon, I know that. But I haven't missed out on anything in my life. I am fine with it. So this isn't what I'd recommend: this isn't the best life to live, but it's my life." [2] Drug use [ edit ]
