Medical conditions:Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about using this product if you have serious kidney or liver disease, high blood pressure, heart or thyroid disease, diabetes, asthma, chronic lung disease or shortness of breath, persistent or chronic cough, glaucoma, difficulty urinating due to enlargement of prostate gland, chronic alcoholism, or any other medical condition or are taking medications for depression.Benylin mucus cough & cold all-in-one relief tablets contain the painkiller paracetamol (250mg), a cough expectorant called guaifenesin (100mg) and a decongestant called phenylephrine hydrochloride (5mg). These three active ingredients have different actions to relieve your symptoms. Pregnancy:This medication should not be used during pregnancy unless the benefits outweigh the risks. If you are pregnant, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication. It's fine to take Benylin mucus cough & cold all-in-one relief with plain ibuprofen or aspirin (assuming these are appropriate for you). However, don't take it with co-codamol, co-dydramol or Tramacet because these contain paracetamol. There have been a few reports of blood dyscrasias including thrombocytopenia and agranulocytosis after regular or excessive ingestion of paracetamol, and of acute pancreatitis after ingestion of above normal dosage.

Undesirable effects are rare with normal doses of phenylephrine, however it can cause the adverse effects typical of sympathomimetics including: hypertension, palpitations (tachycardia), headache, dizziness, vomiting, diarrhoea and insomnia. Urinary retention has also been reported – this is more likely to occur in men with an enlarged prostate (frequency not known). If you're taking medicines for high blood pressure you shouldn't take Benylin mucus cough & cold all-in-one relief, because the decongestant may make your blood pressure medicine less effective.
