About this deal

Concrete paint is non-reactive (similar to a water-based concrete stain) and fills the surface pores of the concrete to achieve opaque, uniform, consistent color. However, paint can chip and peel over time, especially if you don’t prepare the surface properly. WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF USING PAINT TO COLOR CONCRETE? If we take a look at the first category, a fully penetrating concrete sealer, we need to understand what it does and why we would use it, and where. If we think about them as a product that looks like water, is generally clear or slight colour, and soaks into the concrete. Once it enters the concrete through the pores, it finds and reacts with lime or un-reacted cement (cement is burnt lime). Creteshield 101– is a Potasium Silicanate. It is at the top of the performance list. An advantage of Creteshield 101 is that it is hydrophobic, meaning it repels moisture. Most densifiers are hydrophilic, meaning they microscopically absorb moisture (they will stop moisture transfer, but over a long period of time they dissolve). Creteshield 101 will increase abrasion reistance by about 40%. Also suitable for greatly reducing Radon Gas. Creteshield 101 is the best product to use as a stand alone densifier. Multicrete Products CONCRETE HARDENER AND DUSTPROOFER is not designed to restore damaged concrete. Not for use on stonework or coloured concrete.Must not be used on concrete that is less than 28 days old. Fully penetrating sealer – these concrete sealers are also referred to as densifiers. There are a number of variations of densifiers/Fully penetrating sealers, but their characteristic is that they work by chemical reaction with “free lime” inside the concrete matrix and do not leave a surface coating. More on these later……

Hardens and dustproofs the surface silicate resins to both harden and dustproof new and old concrete floors Any concrete surface you intend to paint must be free of contaminants and existing coatings, sealers, or curing compounds. Otherwise, the paint will be unable to fully bond to the concrete. The concrete to be painted should also have a slight texture for proper paint adhesion. If the surface is extremely smooth or has a hard-troweled finish, it may need to be acid etched or mechanically abraded first. Much of this advice on preparing concrete floors before staining is also applicable to concrete paints. Concrete paint comes in just about any color. Most manufacturers have a set of standard colors ranging from 30 to 40 options. Some offer custom color matching services as well.

Do not ingest. In the event of ingestion, do not induce vomiting, drink plenty of water and seek medical attention. Concrete sealer can come in many “flavours” (please don’t taste them). There is much confusion and misconception about different types of concrete sealer.

Topical coatings – these sealers are typically higher solids, 2 component, reaction resin based sealers. Fully penetrating concrete sealer – Densifier Concrete garage and floor paints are designed for applications such as garages, car ports, basement floors, and walkways. They are specially formulated to resist motor oil, grease, and gasoline stains as well as peeling caused by hot tires. Some people are more sensitive to chemical products than others. If irritation occurs discontinue use. Removing an existing coat of paint can be difficult but not impossible because paints don’t penetrate into the concrete, as do stains. If the paint is peeling or blistering, you can often remove it with a wire brush, paint scraper, or power washer. To remove multiple layers of paint, try a gel-based paint stripper specifically for concrete and allow it to remain on the surface to give it a chance to penetrate and go to work. Once the paint is completely removed, you can repaint the surface or apply another type of decorative finish. To see Tinted colours select a colour chart such as RAL, BS, NCS, etc. or search for a colour/hue to see available or related options.Unlike acid stains, which must be applied with a sprayer, you can apply most concrete paints with a simple paint brush or roller. Cleanup is easy as well, since most concrete paints are water-based acrylic latex formulas. Concrete paints are also safer to apply, especially indoors. When working with acid-based stains, it’s important to take precautionary measures because they often contain corrosive components that can cause eye and skin irritation and produce strong odors. Seals and hardens concrete floors by penetrating into the concrete to give a robust non-dusting surface with improved resistance to oil and grease. Multicrete Products CONCRETE HARDENER & DUSTPROOFER is ideal for use in garage workshops and factories with both newly fitted or existing concrete floors. For paint to adhere properly, the concrete should also be dry and free of trapped moisture. An easy way to test the moisture content of concrete before painting is to duct tape an 18-inch square of clear plastic onto the surface and leave it in place for 24 hours. If condensation collects under the plastic after that time, the concrete is too damp for paint application and needs additional drying time.
