About this deal

For these limited circumstances it has been found that a usefully accurate Predicted In-Room (PIR) amplitude response, also known as a “room curve” is obtained by a weighted average consisting of 12 % listening window, 44 % early reflections and 44 % sound power. At very high frequencies errors can creep in because of excessive absorption, microphone directivity, and room geometry. These discrepancies are not considered to be of great importance. Utilizing Tractrix geometry, the Reference Premiere ports allow for the most efficient, fastest air transfer from the cabinet, which reduces port noise for punchier low frequencies. Klipsch Tractrix ports have custom designed inner flares that help reduce air turbulence entering the port. Less turbulent air helps reduce port noise for cleaner, more powerful bass.

Sound Power represents all of the sounds arriving at the listening position after any number of reflections from any direction. It is the weighted rms average of all 70 measurements, with individual measurements weighted according to the portion of the spherical surface that they represent. Klipsch says the 600M II’s enclosure has been upgraded with heavy furniture-grade materials, and it also seems there has been some enhancement to the internal bracing.Decide how much you want to spend on an amplifier for your Klipsch RP-600M speakers and choose one that suits your budget. In A Nutshell We combined Spinorama data with room acoustics and came up with Soundton. A very simple, 2D online tool that allows you to: Klipsch have also made bi-wiring easier with new speaker cable jumpers instead of the earlier metal designs.

We greatly appreciate you taking the time to read our article about the top quality Amplification system for your Klipsch RP-600M speaker system. If you own a Klipsch RP-600M, I hope you will find this guide helpful in finding and purchasing an amplifier. The RP-600M II is a large-ish two-way standmount speaker. Bass / midrange is handled by a new 6.5” Cerametallic driver, resplendent in its copper finish. Treble comes courtesy of a 1” Linear Travel Suspension (LTS) titanium diaphragm tweeter. You'd struggle to notice it, but Klipsch's popular RP-600M has been given a makeover, hence the 'II' suffix to the model number. This new addition to the company's Reference Premiere range features a larger horn tweeter, a new Cerametallic woofer, an improved input panel and additional internal bracing of the cabinet, among its numerous tweaks. No new finishes have been made available for this revision, so the choice remains walnut or ebony vinyl veneer and scratch-resistant satin-painted baffles. Listening to the Cowboy Junkie’s Trinity Sessions, I was surprised by the degree of accuracy and imaging capabilities of this loudspeaker. I also own a pair of large Maggies and Focal Kanta 3s and they never fail to engage me with this recording because they can handle the scale, soundstage, and are wonderfully transparent.I recommend turning the speaker about 20° out (facing out into the room) or using the speaker grille to help lower the high frequency tilt a bit.

The original Klipsch RP-600M were overachievers and that was a huge reason for their success; they delivered a rather lively and energetic presentation and could be driven by a wide range of affordable electronics. The colormap provides you the locations with the best (green) and worst (red) listening experience. Measurements are provided in a format in accordance with the Standard Method of Measurement for In-Home Loudspeakers (ANSI/CTA-2034-A R-2020). For more information, please see this link. Early Reflections Directivity Index (EPDI): is defined as the difference between the listening window curve and the early reflections curve. In small rooms, early reflections figure prominently in what is measured and heard in the room so this curve may provide insights into potential sound quality. Jumping over to home theater, I LOVED the new 600Ms for movies. They can absolutely anchor a surround sound system and feel completely cinematic! We weren’t able to get the new RP-500C II, so we relied on the older 600 center. While I could hear a subtle difference in tone and presence between the new 600M v2 and the old 600C –with the center sounding a little more forward and directional in comparison, the difference wasn’t THAT jarring. If you use auto room correction like Audyssey or DIRAC, the difference will be even less noticeable. My advice, if you have an existing Reference Premiere setup and are itching to try the new models, start with the left and right mains and perhaps center FIRST. What I wouldn’t do is throw out all your older RP speakers for newer models. When it comes to surround or overhead channels, I doubt you’re going to benefit THAT much. WHICH MODEL IS BETTER? KLIPSCH 600M VS 600M IIThe treble is where the RP-600M II will go off the reservation for some people. The newly designed wave guide has created a top end that is definitely brighter sounding, but also more refined and detailed. Klipsch RP-600M II is clearly the larger of the two speakers. Its body is 2mm wider, 3mm taller and 31mm deeper than Klipsch RP-600M. Semyon Bychkov’s newly released Mahler 1 with the Czech Philharmonic is a superb recording coupled to one of the best readings I’ve heard. The M2si and RP-600M II laid it all out in front of me in a huge soundstage. The music was expansive, explosive, stirring; goosebumps abounded. As with the best systems, analysis fell by the wayside as the music gripped me. A slight toe-in enhanced the center image, albeit at the expense of soundstage width. I preferred them pointed straight ahead. It was obvious to me that the larger horns were providing enhanced directivity as compared to the older model, and that made placement pretty straightforward.

Getting the RP-600Ms to serve up their full menu of pleasures required positioning them with care. The speakers' off-axis response delivered a sweet spot at least two people wide, and generated satisfying instrumental tone everywhere in my room. At 10' from the front wall in Sphere's room, the RP-600Ms' tonal character leaned toward lean, but so what? They made a mile-deep soundstage. In my room, moving them 3' from the front wall reduced soundstage depth by at least 50%, but the bass and lower midrange were fuller—more to my liking. I also discovered that each inch I moved them farther from or closer to the front wall changed their tonal balance. With the Klipsches only 66" apart and 75" from my ears, their front baffles precisely 29" from the wall behind them, and no toe-in, the weight and timbre of Alexander Melnikov's piano as he performed Book 2 of Debussy's Préludes (24-bit/96kHz FLAC, Harmonia Mundi/Qobuz) was just right for me. The grandest perk of being a reviewer is when sniffing through the grass leads me to a high-performance product capable of wide-ranging appeal at a price point that shouldn't scare anyone. In my sniffing, I have encountered a few products of this type, whose success I've applauded because it is so much fun to see legions of happy audiophiles united in their approval of a product so unusual that they may not have considered it had it not been ardently championed in the audiophile press.High Frequency Driver: 1” Titanium LTS Vented Tweeter with Hybrid Cross-Section Expanded Tractrix® Horn: Compared to the v1 (which I reviewed [here]), the v2 has smoother response, is about 10° to 20° wider in horizontal dispersion and only has a slightly poorer horizontal directivity. The RP-600M II just seemed to take everything that I loved about the first 600M speaker to the next level, with more credible imaging and a bigger soundstage. Not only that, the 600M II resolved a lot better than the first 600, providing added realism to instrumental timbre. Attaches magnetically for an elegant transition from powerful showstopper to discrete performance piece.
