About this deal

The memory map has been adjusted slightly, so everything now fits below Sony's idea of "user memory" (below 0x00100000). The embedded EELOAD module has been cleaned up, and loads at 0x00082000 instead (Like rom0:EELOAD does). Full support for the SCPH-10000 and SCPH-15000. Not only will it patch up the SCPH-10000 v1.00 kernel fully (Applies OSD argument-passing patch), it also includes its own HDD support modules and can act as a replacement for the Sony system driver update.

Free Memory Card Boot (FMCB) is a homebrew software which is designed to setup your PlayStation 2 console The PS2 Discord is incredibly active and lively, with some amazing development work underway on the PS2 to make it unbelivably powerful. Well worth joining to see the amazing work going down.

and drawing something nice on the screen (Not done at the moment as it makes FMCB quite a fair bit larger). If you are having difficulties with getting RESCUE.ELF to be booted, press and hold START+R1. FMCB/FHDB will make an infinite number of attempts to boot the file. Some IRX modules (init.irx and chkesr.irx) have been removed (superceded by code that runs from the EE, like their Sony originals). Free McBoot (FMCB) is a self booting app that only needs to be installed onto a PS2 Memorycard. No modchips or Boot discs are required once installed.

The full FMCB installer installs a homebrew MBR program, which cannot be uninstalled because that would leaveIt is however pre-configured to use several recommended apps, so all you would need to do is simply add the ones you wish to use. By reading the Advanced User Guide, you can find out what to do if you wish to add other apps or files. I'd also like to thank Freedomain.co.nr for offering free DNS listing and other necessary services so we can host this guide ourselves, on our own server, absolutely free. In this time, there has been an incredible boom of guides and communities appearing that provide significantly better support than I could ever achieve now. I am gadly happy to hand the reigns over to these many communities that work to ensure this information is up to date. For video guidance, I recommend MrMario2011 YouTube videos. They always seem to produce videos at lightning speed when new updates or changes to jailbreak methods work, and has been a staple in my retro diet for the past 3 years.

Patched/modified copies of the HDDOSD may not work, although non-Sony disks are supported by FHDB itself. When ATA support is installed (installed whenever compatibility with the SCPH-10000, SCPH-15000 and SCPH-18000 is required),only FHDB will be able to access it. Do not save the FMCB configuration file to the HDD if it is to be used with FMCB. Yes... sort of. How easy it is to do this depends on which model of PS2 you have. If you have a Fat PS2 it is very difficult. If you have slim PS2, it is slightly less difficult. It always requires physical modification of the PS2, and is beyond the scope of this FAQ. Someday, I will write a specific guide for all models. Not only will it patch up the SCPH-10000 and SCPH-15000 kernels fully (Applies OSD argument-passing patch), This also means that exchanging the configuration files for FHDB and FMCB will result in cosmetic issues. Now, enough of what FMCB is, here’s the FMCB v1.9 change list taken directly from SP193’s post over at PSX-Scene.
