About this deal

Knitting has been in fashion since the 1980s boom. There is also a tendency today as a large part of the young people spend a lot of time alone or in partnership with others. This is why there are many reasons for it - first and foremost, it's popular because it's an easy and cheap way to change the wardrobe just when it suits you. All you need is delicious yarn, a good pattern and most importantly - a pair of good knitting needles for children and adults. Our wooden knitting needles consist of high quality birch wood. Birch wood is first of all a very strong material, which has made it possible to shape the tips as fine and sharp as possible. This makes it easier for you to get all the stitches when you knit. As an added bonus, knitting needles of birch are comfortable to knit with. They fit perfect in your hands and then they are almost silent. Note: There are a needles made of natural materials as well. Most specifically bone and horn (like porcupine needles). As these are not readily available in western knitting shops, I am not going to discuss them here. The best Knitting needle size for beginners Double Pointed Needles are shorter, and therefore lighter, than straight needles. They’re typically about 6″– 8″ in length. You don’t buy them individually but rather in sets of either 4 or 5. If you’re a crocheter then you know that a crochet hook has a shaft. It’s the part of the hook that is flat instead of round. On knitting needles, there’s a tapered part and then there’s the shaft which is not tapered. You don’t want your stitches to fall off of the knitting needles. Therefore, they need to sit up on the shaft of the needle. Cable

Interchangeable knitting needles are a specific type of circular knitting needles. With regular circular needles, you’ll buy a bunch of different sized needles as well as different sized cables. An interchangeable knitting needle set allows you to detach the cable from the rest of the needle so that you can mix-and-match your sizes. Beginner knitters would serve themselves well to get a set of interchangeable knitting needles. Side note: The SWG was only implemented in 1884. Before that, it was the Birmingham Wire Gauge; keep that in mind when you follow historic patterns).

Anyways, for knitting beginners, I recommend medium-sized needles. That means around 4-5 mm or US size 6 to 8. If you look at Miss Lambert’s “ My knitting book” from 1845, you will find her marketing a “ Standard Filière” that bears a strong resemblance to the wire gauges used in the British industry at that time and follow the same systemization. Other authors, such as Hope, Mee, and Gaugain also advertised their own needle gauges. And this explains why the smallest knitting needles have the largest numbers in the UK. Source: Miss Lambert, My Knitting book; London, 1845, John Murray Today I’m pausing this project to consider the joys of working with chunky, bulky, and super bulky yarn. If knitting with big yarn and big needles isn’t something you usually do, I’d like to push you out of your comfort zone, and into the super cushy zone.

Important note: I don’t believe there is a single best needle. All knitters are different. If someone tells you, this is the best needle, then they are always talking about their own preferences. The way you hold your hands and the tension you apply to your yarn matter just as much as the yarn itself and pattern you are working with.Straight: Traditional knitting needles are straight with a semi-pointy tip – though depending on the material you go for; some needles will be sharper than others. Straight needles are beginner-friendly and allow you to concentrate on your project stitch by stitch. Double-point: Usually used for knitting in the round, double-point needles don’t have a stopper for your stitches and are particularly suited for smaller projects. when I first started knitting I did not know that I could use circular needles to knit flat – and I had only a few sets & I didn’t understand that I COULD knit that pattern that was knit flat with my size 7 circulars- I didn’t need to go buy straight size 7s … I just always try to tell new folks because when you first start you don’t know if you will love it and you don’t want to invest in tons of needles!
