About this deal

The main reason for skipping this book was that it includes stories from classic fairy tales and I really don't like fairy tales. I love the fact that a traditional tales have been included and altered to fit into this book! SO CLEVER! it give the children some familiarity and shows them how some traditional tales can be changed and altered. Nibbles nibbles his way through story books while the reader tries to catch him. What could be better!

Highly commended in the Macmillan prize 2011, Emma began her career as an author and illustrator whilst still studying Illustration at Falmouth University. She now paints, draws, collages, designs, doodles, splatters and sketches for a living from her studio at home in Falmouth, near Truro and loves every minute of it! In her spare time Emma loves to eat Jaf More I am a book monster myself, though I don't really eat books, at least not in the way Nibbles does. I devour books by reading them. :D This newest book is the simplest out of the three, but pairs wonderfully with many preschool units. For this week we are using it for our “N” week. If you are new to my postings, I teach a literacy Pre-K class that highlights a new letter of the week each week. All our activities and curriculum are based on that letter. The class is meant to expose Pre-K students to literacy and foster a love for reading. Nibbles The Book Monster: Literacy Activity Outcomes If the turn outs in the stories weren’t enough to make you laugh, the version I had had real holes in my ages showing how He makes his way through the books, and that alone is worthy many smiles. They are perceived as classics but I think the only reason Red Riding Hood is still popular today is because it's free to print and retell the story. Same with all the others.I think that this book is accessible to all year groups and activities and writing goals and be altered to suit all ages and abilities. Encourage the student’s creativity in naming their own book monster (for those that have the capability I also ask them to come up with a name that begins with the letter N).

Some ideas for this book would be to discuss the similarities and differences between the folklore stories to compared to the original or a different version. There are many similarities and differences that the students could find. They could create a Venn Diagram to show the similarities and differences. Since there are a few different versions mentioned within the Book Monster, the teacher would have great examples to do a teacher model, a we do example, and a student do. Also, students could complete a sequence of events for the Book Monster to explain what happened throughout the story. Students could also write about what they think will happen next to Nibbles. Students could create their own story about Nibbles and his next adventure. Lastly, the teacher could have a discussion about how students know that this is a fractured fairy-tale/folklore story and how this story is different from nonfiction. libro ha sido todo un descubrimiento para mí, y digo para mí porque mi peque aún es muy pequeño para disfrutarlo. Creo que la edad adecuada es para niños a partir de 4 o 5 años.Reading for pleasure and children’s literature is a passion of mine so I hope that you enjoy this resources as much as I have enjoyed making it! I have even talked the head into a little revamp of the library so that we can display them properly! Thanks so much for your lovely message and for everything that you do with Book Wagon. Yourself and Bob are much cherished in our booky world and I personally really appreciate everything that you do. Children can so easily use this book and their own favourite traditional tales to create their own version of a monster who travels through books.

The genre for this book starts out as fiction, but then switches to Folktale and Fairy-tales. The author creates a twist with the stories by throwing Nibbles into the stories and his tendencies to destroy and nibble things. The author and illustrator have created books within books that has the reader wanting to catch Nibbles and to see what shenanigans he gets into next. The different stories are unique to their book within The Book Monster. The grade levels that would enjoy this would be Kindergarten through 2nd Grade. I read the story aloud to my 1st Graders, who LOVED the main story of Nibbles, but also were excited to see which folklore or fairy-tale story would come next. They would always make predictions of which story would come next. Edit: This post was written when there was only 3 Nibbles books available. Currently, there are four available.I've read this book roughly 82 million times because it is a favorite in my house. We've actually had it for almost two years and despite having books overflowing our shelves and access to the entire county library full of books, this is one that keeps making it's way onto the "PLEASE READ THIS ONE MOMMY" list. The book is riddled with holes here and there, holes through which Nibbles ate himself a way out. I loved that they were added it made the book so much more fun. Anyway, despite my son's immaturity for Nibbles - or rather his too risky closeness to and absolutely predictable adoration of the toothy little rascal, I happen to enjoy reading this book myself every so often. It is both a simple joy and an inspiration, which never fails to bring a smile to my face.
