About this deal

Library Where The Adventures Begin Tshirt, Librarian Shirt, Library Tshirt, Book Lover Gift, Book Addict Tee, Book Nerd Shirt, Bookish Shirt Co-created with people affected by dementia, the play explores scenarios at different points of characters’ experiences with dementia, from getting a diagnosis and sharing that with family members, to caring for a loved one living with dementia. Dementia Friends is about learning more about dementia and the small ways you can help. From telling friends about the Dementia Friends programme to visiting someone you know living with dementia, every action counts. I hate books/movies/ TV shows where a character is being warned with a loudspeaker, bright bold yellow highlighter, flares that you have something bad you are trying to warn them off, but said character acts like she doesn't see/hear any shrill alert in your voice. Previously, a dementia friendly concert was held as part of the North Wales International Music Festival at the Cathedral. This was a success and it will take place this year too, along with a workshop. Also at the Cathedral, they set up a table at All Things Dementia, which is run by the diocese in the cathedral (see photo).

The ambition was to collectively build a movement for change across the county, establishing and supporting a Dementia Aware Denbighshire Community Network to share best practice and keep up momentum. Truly riveting....Clarissa's silence is both understandable and possibly her undoing."-- New York Times Book Review DVSC also run a regular Dementia Aware Denbighshire meeting via Zoom that is open to everyone and they also provide Dementia Aware Community Grants, that can fund a diverse range of project helping those with dementia, and their loved ones, across the county. I like Kendal's idea, of exploring how fairytales echo real life themes of obsession, sex, and violence. But in The Book of You, I did not feel that she was able to work this concept into the story in a comprehensible way. Without giving away any spoilers, particular characters who commit murder in the show don't do so in the book. Plus, a certain horrifying scene in the first season is something entirely new and not in the novel. On 14th August, North Wales Police will be providing training to the attendees of Stopwatch about the Herbert Protocol. The Herbert Protocol is a national scheme that encourages carers, family and friends to provide and put together useful information, which can then be used in the event of a vulnerable person going missing. This session has been opened out to include staff who will be working during this year's Air Show at the end of August As well as this, they have shown 'The World Turned Upside Down' at the local cinema, a film that delves into the reality of living with and caring for a person with dementia. The film depicts both a play and the process of creating it, as well as the audiences’ reflections during the play.

Rhyl is beginning its journey towards becoming more dementia aware with an action group, which has recently agreed to become constituted. The group has been facilitated by DVSC and includes local organisations, businesses and representation from the community. DVSC's Dementia Aware Community Led Programme was enabled through Welsh Government funding to support local delivery of the Dementia Action Plan. It was set up in 2019 to support communities to generate and transfer awareness around dementia into community led action. The reader is introduced to the dynamics between Rafe and Clarissa part way into their story...and the fact that we meet Clarissa when she is already avoiding Rafe reduces the sense of building suspense. There is a sort of repetitive monotony to this tale, with Clarissa trudging through the bleak, unremitting snow of a wintery city, and receiving one after another vaguely threatening gifts from Rafe, which she duly catalogues as evidence to eventually turn in to the police.Quite a few towns have hosted the Virtual Dementia Tour Bus so residents can get a window into demetia. Here are just some of the quotes from those who've experienced it: “Everyone on the planet needs to experience this!” “You are an active learner… you walk in the shoes of someone with dementia.” “There is an immediate and lasting change of perception.” It is easy to distinguish the present day, the main part of the book covers seven weeks of Clarissa’s life, from the written notebooks by the font which meant that this was an easy read despite the jumps in times and place. However, fans might note that there are some similarities between You (Kepnes novel) and You (the Netflix show) when it comes to book 4 and season 4. Clarissa's only escape from this harrowing nightmare is inside a courtroom--where she is a juror on a trial involving a victim whose experiences eerily parallel her own. There she finds some peace and even makes new friends, including an attractive widower named Robert, whose caring attentions make her feel desired and safe. But as a disturbingly violent crime unfolds in the courtroom, Clarissa realizes that to survive she must expose Rafe herself. Conceiving a plan, she begins collecting the evidence of Rafe's madness to use against him--a record of terror that will force her to relive every excruciating moment she desperately wants to forget. Proof that will reveal the twisted, macabre fairy tale that Rafe has spun around them . . . with an ending more horrifying than her darkest fears. The Book of You follows Clarissa as she tries to avoid, and evade the unwanted attention she is receiving from a work colleague, Rafe. The author wastes no time diving into this story and from chapter one the readers are acutely aware that Clarissa is the victim of an EXTREME stalker. The feeling of frustration and helplessness is palpable as Clarissa attempts to gain evidence and support so that she can just go to the police without being turned away. Apparently word of mouth is not enough evidence so Clarissa starts collecting his letters to her, presents, taking photos of him watching her and keeping a detailed journal of every encounter she has with this creep. The amount of hoops that this woman has to jump through just so she can go to a police station and a file report without being laughed out the building is infuriating! And to make the readers even more acutely aware of the helplessness sexual assault victims feel, Clarissa is given jury duty on a case that juxtaposes her own life. Now the readers get to see that even when you report acts of sexual abuse and make it into a court room you still have to deal with victim blaming and slut shaming by prosecuting lawyers and a judgemental jury.
