About this deal

The third book of The Iron Fey series begins with Meghan and Ash, now exiled forever from the Nevernever. Trapped in the human world, Meghan learns of the tragic incident that made her real father disappear in her childhood. Soon she decides to master the art of sword fighting, for she had the fate of all the fae resting on her shoulders. Combat Clairvoyance: Her Third Eye ability lets her CAD predict the opponents move while she can't see it, and do something about it. A major plot point is learning to moderate this impulse to constructive levels. Initially Rei left to his own devices will train for so many hours a day it's actually detrimental, leaving him dead on his feet.

I'm not saying that makes it fine, but the problem is that the authors handled it in a way to preserve mystery and will/wont he become a part of the group while also making the romance subplot pretty evident. If they want to preserve the "why does he hate Rei so much" they should have been more total in doing so and also in obscuring the interest between the hater and the friend. I'll say that I didn't mind the love thing with the protagonist's best friend too much (certainly not as much as I worried I would after reading the review). Aside from these characters, in Call of the Forgotten, Kierran was a totally messed up person and I desperately wanted him to make the right choices. I won’t reveal to you if he did make them or not due to spoiler concerns, but suffice it to say that he was a dynamic character, and I loved reading about him. I agree with your opinion on the romantic subplot between the antagonist and Rei's friend, I would have preferred to see that cut out personally. It felt like a betrayal to me, even though the relationship didn't go that far by the end of the book (not yet at least).Overall I agree with the review. Good book, a little too much fighting, teen level romance drama that isn't too overblown. The fastest class of CAD, its distinguishing feature is that it has two weapons available, used one in each hand. After leaping through the portal to Evenfall, Meghan and her companions find themselves in a terrifying new world where Nightmares roam and glamour is nearly nonexistent. As their magic wanes and the creatures of Evenfall rise against them, the race to find the Nightmare King grows ever more desperate. But what they discover– about Evenfall, about the Nightmare King, about themselves –will shake everything they thought they knew to the core. It was amazing! Watching the main cast grow and overcome their own fears and anxieties, while pushing themselves to be stronger and better than they were, was simply great. Not many books focus that much on the character development, rather they let the story and intrigue carry poor character design. If you loved Iron Fey and want to read more like this, worry not because there is more to this series! If you’re not satiated even after three series (we readers can never be satiated), you can read the following:

Here it is. This is my new answer: Iron Princeis like Cradle, and it's really good, and you should read it if the premise sounds at all appealing to you. The thing is it's really a college sports story. There's no stakes beyond "I wanna be the best and also I'm in a really safe and nurturing environment where I can do that if I try hard enough, and also also I have a thing that literally says I'll improve super fast". Agreed on all points, both positive and negative. Biggest offender was all of the fights at the end of the year tournament. And yeah, that romance subplot.... Everybody Knew Already: She's REALLY bad at hiding things like her stalking of Rei and the fact that she's Colonel Guest's niece. Especially the latter, which she thinks she can hide, but doesn't realize that because of how influential her family is, there's literally a newspaper article announcing her birth and the fact that the Colonel is her godfather. The Primary Antagonist also beats the everliving crap out of his own hanger ons after they ambush the main character. He then spends the rest of the book making sure nobody lays a finger on the main character. He does not pursue any kind of action or harassment against the main character. The only fights between them happen in class and in the tournament.

However, Meghan fiercely believes that the Iron Fey are responsible for the savage murder, but their presence isn’t believed by any of the fae. Badass Teacher: She’s an S-rank fighter and a beloved ex-pro. Every one of her students has a ton of respect for her. Master Swordsman: He's a Saber type, so he's looking to become one. His technique is already noted to be excellent, and he's able to help give Rei a crash course in swordfighting when his ability Type Shift manifests. Meghan’s life isn’t what you can call ‘extraordinary’, what with her stepfather always forgetting her, her real father having vanished at a picnic, and girls at school teasing her. Not to mention the strange events that happen when she’s around. But since her sixteenth birthday, some strange turn of events makes things even worse.
