Female characters that cross over many generations always makes for a great read, and in this novel from Ruth Jones, her latest that is no exception.

In 1999, Ruth got married to David Peet her partner and together they have three children. She would, later on, create and write the “Stella” series alongside her husband, using money from their Tiny Productions company. All families have their problems. And most of them get resolved. But Grace's problem is thirty years old. And she doesn't have time on her side. To do this she must locate her stranged daughter Alys but she risks betraying her grandaughter's trust in doing so. Elin isn't forgiving when it comes to her mother, she can't just forget all the past hurt, secrets and lies so easily. Beca, Elin's daughter is completely oblivious to all of it. Like all teenagers she is completely immersed in the ups and downs of teenage life, holding secrets of her own and not really paying much attention to anything else, especially the bores of family dynamics.

Was the representation of older women and generational women of importance to you when writing this book? Grace is said grandmother, about to turn ninety and living life to the full. Sea swims, visiting friends and embracing life in her own home. Still there are feuds that need to be solved and Grace suddenly feels that times is running out.
