This game features cel-shaded graphics, in contrast with the "solid 3D" rendering used in the previous three Simpsons games released ( The Simpsons Road Rage, The Simpsons Skateboarding, and The Simpsons: Hit and Run). The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions use a "flattening" technique to render true 2D graphics, instead of the traditional 3D cel shading method, and the DS is a 2.5D platformer. Many cutscenes feature the 2D style, shown like a normal Simpsons episode (except for the DS version, which has 3D rendered cutscenes). The game has 5 playable characters: Homer, Bart, Lisa, Marge and Maggie. In the game manual, Maggie and Marge are counted as a single character, but they have different gameplay and controls.
