Inevitably such a striking beach is popular with Instagrammers who come to take selfies leaping from the cliffs or posing near the beach’s half-submerged shipwreck; luckily, there are plenty of sheltered coves to escape the crowds. As if that weren’t enough, its pretty seabed is great for snorkelling and, unusually for the Med, it has surfable rollers when the sirocco blows in winter.

Picking one beach from this island of seaside perfection is hard, but Sa Colonia, one of several bays south of the village of Chia, has it all – acres of talc-soft sand (with a single beach concession – handy for cold drinks), clear water, flamingos on a lagoon behind and occasional visits from dolphins. From Rock beach there are far-reaching along the wide estuary; within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Rock and the surrounding coast is a wildlife-watchers haven, whilst walkers delight in the coastal routes across the sand to Daymer Bay and Polzeath. A cafe sells drinks and basic food, and behind the beach is the small Camp Divna campsite (pitches from €5. Plaja Tuzla is a modest beach in a village which is becoming increasingly popular with those wanting to escape the loud beach music and barbeque smoke. Rock beach is a vast stretch of golden sands and turquoise sea on the shore of the Camel Estuary, opposite the popular town of Padstow on Cornwall’s north coast.

The beach is part of the Danube Delta biosphere, and it is one of the most beautiful wild beaches in Romania. This beach is close to my first recommendation, but you’ll probably enjoy it better since it has finer sand, it’s larger and the water is nicer, being more shallow. I kept this secret for many years, and now I’m telling it to you, so please be nice and don’t leave any trash behind. Corsica’s most beautiful beaches sound like a cast list from a commedia dell’arte , but top billing undoubtedly goes to Palombaggia. The Seaside Awards are a seal of approval for the country’s best beaches and you’ll find a number of them near our parks, including Whitley Bay, Challaborough Bay, Kessingland Beach, Withernsea Sands and Croyde Bay at Ruda.

Having lived in Romania for almost 4 decades, I am here to tell you everything about this beautiful country. Many coastal towns and resorts along the shores of the Black Sea, such as those in Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey, Ukraine, Russia, and Georgia, offer a variety of swimming spots, beach facilities, and other recreational activities for visitors. But recently, they started to recover thanks to new renovation works and better people handling the area.

Look forward to fantastic on-site features such as restaurants serving up local produce, family-friendly entertainment and indoor swimming pools. This is also the place where the Neversea festival is taking place (one of Romania’s biggest and best music festivals), so it can be an added bonus if you’re here in early July when the music fest takes place.
