And as much as I recognise her talent/business sense and luck (good looks etc), it’s a bit too Ella-centric. In a fad diet-obsessed age, it's Woodward's balanced, holistic approach to food that's so refreshing. The Deliciously Ella way of eating isn't about following a diet, it's about enjoying delicious, natural food to help you look and feel your best. If there's one person who stands out from the ranks of the healthy-eating gurus, it's Ella Woodward. Before I review this book, it might be worth giving a little background into how I compare/experience cookbooks.

Ella Woodward, author of Deliciously Ella, wants us to feel good about healthy food, without being 'smug' ". Favorites include the insanely delicious roasted cinnamon and maple trail mix, a super-rich chocolate ganache cake, a lovely roasted potato, hazelnut and pomegranate salad with a maple dressing. For housewives like me who doesn't have any kids not that busy as much I need to tweak some of the ingredients to lessen the total calorie of every meal which suits for my lifestyle. Luckily, Ella understands that nourishing your body with wholesome ingredients needs to fit in with your existing lifestyle and not feel like something difficult, which is why she has written this book - to help you make the right choice every time and start to glow from the inside out. After attending Rugby School and Hurtwood House, [2] Woodward graduated with a degree in history of art from the University of St Andrews in 2013. If you feel like you're compromising every day and you feel like you're depriving yourself, it won't work. This is not to disparage Ella's work or story but it's hard to imagine that her blog/book would be as successful if she were a, for want of a better word, minger.

I reach for these recipes when I need a quick, low-effort, and clean meal which will keep me full and give me a good serve of nutrients. However, there are days when one just doesn't have time, energy or belly space for that sort of thing, which is why this book (and Ella's first book) has kept its place on my cookbook-shelf. I've already bookmarked handful of recipes to try and tasted and loved the breakfast bar and smoothies (Kale with Chocolate, Yum). By turns charming and practical, Woodward caters to the eater who wants to eat less sugar, flour, meat, and dairy….
